Oh my, Gravey Davy!! You kill me! For longer than short-term testing I'd certainly recommend using clean socks! Or wash cloths.

I’m certain that this has been covered off on multiple times, but there are 2300+ pages to scroll through. So I thought I’d ask and see if anything has been updated:

For those that use a Rumble Stage 800, what are your favorite presets and what type(s) of music do you use them for?

Here are my Top 5 (in no particular order):

Rumble V3 Dirty - used for songs with distortion, or in which I'd like some; doesn't have to be in the original.

"When I Come Around" - Green Day
"Cat Scratch Fever" - Ted Nugent
"Francine" - ZZ Top​

Rumble V3 Vintage - for any "Motown"-ish song, or where I just want some bottom end thump.

"Mustang Sally" - Wilson Pickett (Don't dog me on this one; I love playing this song!)
"Cocaine" - J.J. Cale / Eric Clapton
"Mexican Blackbird" - ZZ Top​

Clean Focus - for songs that need good low- and mid-body, plus upper-end clarity.

"All the Small Things" - BLINK-182
"All Right Now" - Free
"Balinese" - ZZ Top​

Basic Bassman Cln - same as Clean Focus, but a little stronger, with a little gain.

"Are You Gonna Be My Girl" - Jet
"Jealous Again" - The Black Crowes
"Cheap Sunglasses" - ZZ Top​

Deep Rumble - for demo-ing drywall (e.g. SheetRock).

"Play The Funky Music" - Wild Cherry
(some other ZZ Top song) - ZZ Top ​

To be honest, I moved Deep Rumble to the top of my preset list with the intent of using it for "Play That Funky Music"; 'cause it's just a huge bass sound. But, with the Stage 800 combo plus a 2x10 extension cab, I never really used it; it would have been overkill. The Vintage preset was good enough.

I used a staple gun.
Fitted it loosely 9 not packed down) but firmly to the walls. . Its been a while since I installed it. I noticed my Bag End cab is lined in a similar fashion and they always sounded great to me. So I tried this.
The midrange was cleaned up immediately. It was more clear, defined with a little less mid honkiness.. And the lows appeared to sound deeper and fuller to me.
I like it and Om not going to take it out

OMG, Love, I haven't heard of anyone having to add acoustic dampening in the Rumble 200 & 500 combos before, since they come with some already installed. And denim?!? I'd expect that to be more on the tight-woven, thin-fabric side of things than acoustic fiber.

Could you please describe some details, and to what extent, you applied this Frost King denim insulation? Did you glue it to the unlined walls only, or also over the factory lining? Or just loosely wrapped around the speakers? Or ... ? Nosy ... uh, Enquiring minds wanna know, please.

A link to your post sharing Acoustic Lining for Rumble 500 combo and your installation method has been added to the Rumble Club Wiki page near the middle of the Rumble Modifications section. That's some very enlightening information that some of us may want to try sometime, so I hope this captures them for future use.

I heard a couple of their songs on the radio. New band to me. They were in town (Madison, WI) in '74, touring Tres Hombres. I went down to the record store on State St., grabbed their first 3 LPs, went up to the counter, plunked them down and asked for a ticket to the show.

The sales guy took one look at the LP stack and uttered the classic: "instant collection, eh?"

Yup!

Still a fan 47 years later!

Have you seen the Fender straplocks which are clones of the classic Grolsch flip-top beer bottle washer straplocks? They even used a similar color of plastic, presumably so you can lead people to think you're cool enough to know about the Grolsch trick!
I think they're my favorite example of a corporation co-opting an underground hack.

OK, for those who might be interested, I recebtly posted about my new sterling By Music Man bass sounding distorted at higher volumes, with or without gain. Thanks again for helpful responses.
I was pretty depressed about it and considering returning the bass. Then I tested my Fender jazz and similar sort of affect.
So I took the grill off the front of the combo, all appeared OK. Then removed cable from send /return and another pedal in the chain. Reconnected and YAY all was well again !!?? Full fat sound and really loud. No fart with mids or gain.

I had already tried disconnecting some cables but didn't make a difference. This time, for whatever reasons, it solved the issue.

This distortion has happened with the rumble before on v few occasions (I've posted previously on it) . WHY? and HOW does it resolve itself? I haven't replaced cables. Can some weird static /shortening be happening?

Any rumblers had it before?

That happened to me when I left a cable hanging from the effects loop

My biggest concern with getting the Rumble instead of a class D GK (selling my heavier amps) was when using the upright. GK is really popular amongst the rockabilly/psychobilly bass players. But got to use the Rumble recently with upright for the first time and all I can say is "nice." I prefer the Rumble sound with the upright to the GK, although I'm still dialing in the exact settings for electric. Might at an SCR-DI or VT-Bass in front for that.

Yep, “Fool for Your Stockings”, that would be the Rumble V3 Vintage preset.

I’d suggest “Waiting for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago” or the classic “La Grange”.
