I've been clearing the area right behind the vents by just reaching in the holes with my fingers. I think things are working out okay. It's certainly better than it had been. Thanks again.
Hey, I just had my first chance to play an hour or two through my recently bought Rumble 200 combo, and I was really enjoying it. I played a lot of thick, subwoofer, treble-averse reggae tunes, to get the old Studio One and "Family man" Barrett sound. I also did "Soul Sacrifice" plus some "Ball of Confusion", "Theme from Shaft" and other early soul/funk stuff. I think today's practice, alone, was worth the $299 I paid for the R200 combo.
OK, for those who might be interested, I recebtly posted about my new sterling By Music Man bass sounding distorted at higher volumes, with or without gain. Thanks again for helpful responses.
I was pretty depressed about it and considering returning the bass. Then I tested my Fender jazz and similar sort of affect.
So I took the grill off the front of the combo, all appeared OK. Then removed cable from send /return and another pedal in the chain. Reconnected and YAY all was well again !!?? Full fat sound and really loud. No fart with mids or gain.

I had already tried disconnecting some cables but didn't make a difference. This time, for whatever reasons, it solved the issue.
This distortion has happened with the rumble before on v few occasions (I've posted previously on it) . WHY? and HOW does it resolve itself? I haven't replaced cables. Can some weird static /shortening be happening?
Any rumblers had it before?

It might be worth checking for a loose jack socket either on the rumble send/return or on one of the pedals as well as changing the cables.
I don't know how that picture showed up. I was referring to the semi hollow bass.Uh, ... mmm, ... well, that's a Dell XPS laptop in that pic, Lovey. Not real big on bass, but it can play tunes. Is that what you meant?
Was there something else you had questions about in "replying" (but not commenting) to my other two posts? Or am I missing something?

Thanks Expendable. I regularly check cables & sockets and 99.99% of the time everything plays/sounds good. Just this v occasional random 'fall out'. Happened maybe 4-5 times in 4 years. Just coincidence it happened with a new bass.

I don't want to open the back of the combo as I'm no electrician and won't know what to look for.

I've noticed "some" Rumble cabinets have a different, more expensive looking Fender emblem rather than the flat, plastic one found on the Rumble Combos I've seen at GC.
I know there's the much more expensive Bassman Neo series amps and cabs that has the nicer looking emblem, are there different models in the Rumble series that has the upgraded emblem also?

I believe people are just upgrading to the nicer metal logo on their own. That's what I did...

I've been having on/off grounding issues and while I haven't nailed anything down yet I've become suspicious of it having to do either with my power cable or my power bar. Maybe try a new power cable and/or outlet and see if that helps.
I've heard of some 115 & 410 Rumble cabs coming with the classic blackface Fender logo you're referring to. But I haven't found that it's an actual different model number in their catalog, like the black-on-black 210 cab and silver-grille 210 cab are. So, other than sales negotiations, I don't know how you go about getting one from the factory like that. But, making the aftermarket switch is not expensive or difficult. It's listed in the Rumble Modifications section of the Rumble Club Wiki page.
Perhaps Fender is subliminally appealing to the Bassman head owners with some less expensive, but cosmetically matching, cabs. It's a very cost effective approach. I've seen many Bassman heads sitting on the wider Rumble 115 & 410 cabs!

Because my Rumbles are behind me-and I can't see the emblem with my fazaza, I've decided to replace the plastic ones with the metal ones. When the plastic ones break.
I used this stuff in my Fender Rumble 500 and it improved the sound massively. Cleaner mids, deeper low end.

I finally followed their advice and stuck old socks in the vent holes of my R40, and the sound was significantly improved. So, I guess I'll try batting tomorrow.
Should this batting be a sheet or something? I'll check back in the thread.

OMG, Love, I haven't heard of anyone having to add acoustic dampening in the Rumble 200 & 500 combos before, since they come with some already installed. And denim?!? I'd expect that to be more on the tight-woven, thin-fabric side of things than acoustic fiber.
Could you please describe some details, and to what extent, you applied this Frost King denim insulation? Did you glue it to the unlined walls only, or also over the factory lining? Or just loosely wrapped around the speakers? Or ... ?

Hi, bw. I think you're forgetting our Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 club sub-thread for these kinds of modeling-specific discussions, as mentioned when you & your Stage 800 were inducted into The Club. To get you started there, here's a search of that sub-thread for "favorite preset":
After reviewing those few posts, please ask your question there again! It'll be good to see if anyone has changed, or what others have to say.
Also, remember that the Studio 40 has the exact same modeling features and presets as the Stage 800, just smaller power amp and speakers. The LT25, though, has its own different features and presets.
