Fender Rumble Club

I put in some batting today. I used the fluffy stuff and tucked it mostly around the perimeter and behind the vent holes. So far, it sounds just like when I stuffed the socks in (I've removed them).

All sounds good, but there is a poot sound when I hit a low note aggressively. I heard the same thing last night with the sock plugs.

If, by "pooT" sound you mean with a sudden stop at the end, instead of a natural fade, maybe some of the fluffy stuff could be moving to cover one or more ports?
.

Should I leave those open? I intentionally put some fill in front of the ports.

Yes, the ports should allow unimpeded air flow for smooth tone.

OK, not "poot"; Something akin to a tapping noise, like tapping on the lid of a medicine bottle.

That tapping may be the batting closing off the air flow! Not a good idea, IMO.

Is that the Rumble 210 cabinet?

I've the opportunity to pick-up a used 210 cab locally at a reasonable price.

If I go with it I'll be driving it with a GK MB-500 head.

Has anybody played a MB500 head into a Rumble 210?
I've only run the v3 Rumbles (200/500/800HD) and my Traynor Small Block 200H through a Rumble 210. It's never disappointed me. The cab itself can easily handle the power of an MB500. As for the tone I'm a huge fan of Eminence speakers in general and especially the 10s used in the Rumble cabs. I find them to have real smooth and forward low-mids while handling the rest of the frequency spectrum with ease.

They love volume too. Giving them a good boost of power really lets the low end come to life and fill the room. I even use the tweeter which made a big difference in bringing clarity and presence to my effects.

As for weight there's a handful of cabs that can kinda match the price:weight ratio of the Rumble, but at least in my searches weight-wise it's on the light-ish-side. Though if weight is a chief concern I believe that the Traynor and Trace Elliot 208s, along with the Ampeg SVT210AV are all around 25lbs. None of those have the power handling and sound of the Rumble but they're as light as you'll get before going to something like a Phil Jones cab.

I say get the Rumble (obviously lol).:bassist:

Thank-you for your reply.

I'm leaning heavily towards purchasing the used Rumble 210 but I've never even seen one let alone played through one.

Would like to hear everyone's opinions for the GK head/Rumble 210 cabinet match-up.

I'm all for 210 cabinets!
I've three 210 cabs now.
Two, Avatar 210 Neo cabs that I stack as a vertical 410 for gigs. Their usually kept in the bands equipment trailer.
One, Ashdown 210T Deep cabinet that stays parked where the band rehearses.

The Rumble 210 will be kept at home and used for personal noodling and impromptu get togethers.

I have not used my Rumble 210 cab with an MB500, but I have used it with a lot of different heads, and have always been really pleased with it. I have owned an Avatar neo 210 and it is a fairly impressive 210,and i feel that the Rumble 210 is pretty similar...I have always been impressed with the low end on the Rumble, and was really impressed with the low end on the Avatar, so really the difference is minimal, and the Fender weighs a bit less, and very capable of rattling the light fixtures and pictures at the house :bassist:

I have used the MB500 with my Rumble 210 and it sounds great. I love the clean sound of the GK heads in general, and it really does bring out the best in these cabinets.

Yep. I just traded in the Stage 800 for a second 2x10 Rumble extension cabinet. So now I have two to use with the Rumble 800HD head I just got, which sounds awesome.

Yeah, 4-10's with an R 800HD head is going to move some air!
Even with one it moves air!
