Fender Rumble Club

how many of you play guitar or keyboard or electronic drum through your rumble heads/combos? any problems?
I love running my electric drums into a bass amp. (Rumble 500H when I had it now Traynor Small Block 200H, both through a Rumble 210.) I've also used my Rumble 500H as a guitar amp, it's pretty great at that too.

What I like most about running drums through my amp is I have added EQ options, and the bass drum thumps so well through a Rumble.

No problem with guitars. I use my Rumble combo for my guitars, and I sometimes use an A/B switch box to run my guitar and my bass into it simultaneously. Now if only I could PLAY them simultaneously, I'd be into serious one-man band territory.

Hey, Daymian! Try just hooking an instrument cable from the FX Send to the FX Return. If that appears to fix it, then it is a corroded or faulty switch in the FX Return.

Please try this and advise us how it goes! :nailbiting:

Now I’m having trouble hearing a problem, maybe it could have been the speaker connection and unplugging and replugging that fixed it? Maybe taking it apart jarred something loose?

I don’t know… I don’t know if it’s comforting that it all of the sudden sounds okay and I’m not sure if anything was really fixed though…

You've just finished the first lesson of "Understanding Electronics-101":wacky:.

I seldom get to play my R100 except for at home practice, but last night we couldn't rehearse at church (stage is a mess at the moment) so we practiced at the leader's home. Several people in a small but open room- 2 guitars, one piano, a violin (all of them acoustic), and me. The guitar & piano players all sing. Lots of open space around us, lots of reflective surfaces. I set my amp on a table a few feet outside the room everyone else was in, and stood in the hallway to play. I like this amp at home; I absolutely loved it here. The volume started at 8 o'clock but moved to 9 when things got loud.

(I whacked my Thunderbird VP's headstock against a couple of things while there. It did not pop off and threaten anyone. Imagine my disappointment. 8^)
Hello Miles. I'm interested to know what settings you like to use on your Rumble 100 when paying in church. Generally speaking, I like a vintage sound with the bass and high mid rolled off a bit.

Amps - check!
Cables - check!
Stand - check!
Tuner - check!
Spare cables - check!
Ear plugs - check!
So, should have everything for first gig in about one and a half year.

wait, something seems to be missing…

It's not just a speaker connection! The switch in the FX Return jack is for sending the pre-amp signal to the power amp, or not! With no plug in the FX Return the signal should proceed normally, but corrosion can open the switch and stop the signal. The cable from FX Send to FX Return opens and replaces the switch, allowing the signal to proceed normally.

If you never use the FX Loop, then the cable effectively bypasses the problem switch. With this diagnosis, it should be an easy fix for a qualified technician. Certainly much cheaper than replacing the amp.

Everything packed, ready to drive to the venue, Park Hotel in Helsinki.

it will be a outdoor gig, and I don’t know the size of the place, or if I can connect to the PA, so I’m prepared for everything. Either I go with only one of the amps, depending on FOH support or not, or then I can even daisy chain the two. Flexible!
Let us know how it went.

It’s humor. I’m sure there are things you would find humorous that non-Dutch would scratch their heads at.
If you think I missed G-dog's humour you are mistaken. I did see it.

But I also saw he counted "A" and "2" instead of either "A" and "B", or "1" and "2".

So I was joking about that. I won't blame you for not seeing my joke. Maybe it was a bad one.

But your remark about nationality comes across as condescending.

Short gig report from Helsinki:

Well, the venue turned out to be quite a small backyard, so the R200 alone would have been enough. But I wanted to chain my Rumbles anyway, so I did it, (looks cooler ). Also I could connect to FOH, so I did that too, as there was a sound guy, easier for us to let him control the sound. So I ended up with gain on 0 and volume at a little less than 9, which gave more than enough stage volume. Other settings where: no buttons (never use), no drive, bass ->10, low and high mid -> 2, high ->11. And on the Orville neck pup only and tone full.

Anyway, gig went good, the venue was full of dancing people, and we got a lot of compliments on our playing and sound. And very nice to play out in front of people again.

So, in all a very good evening. And sorry, no action pics or videos (maybe some will pop up later, there where many filming and taking pictures), so here is just one I took when when we were setting up.

Not sure how I was being condescending. Every culture, has nuances that make them unique that other cultures may not fully understand all the time. My mistake for trying to be helpful.

Why condescending? I'll admit I'm having a hard time putting my finger on it. It's something to do with your incorrect assumption that I missed G-dog's humour. I'm sensitive to these things.

But we all know that references to someone's nationality (or race, or gender, or ....) can easily go wrong, even if made with the best of intentions.

I appreciate your trying to be helpful, it just didn't work out this time.

Sounds like a great gig and a nice location. Glad it worked out and live music is back! Nice pic. What kind of music do you guys play?

Got a gig today at the local bar and my Rumble 100 will be making a debut, replacing the R500/115. We've played there quite a bit and its a small front area corner that the bands set up. The combo is nice and small, perfect for this type of place. I'm pretty sure that the volume won't be an issue but I do worry that I'll have to turn up too much and then lose a lot of nice tone. We'll have to go through to know for sure. I'll let you know what happens
