Fender Rumble Club

When you send the signal from the send on the main amp to the return on the slave amp-the slave amp is running at full volume, because the return Jack brings the signal in after the master volume control, so even if you turned it down or off, the slave still runs wide open.

I find the Rumble 100 is loud for the its size, so running a second one as a slave would make for quite a loud setup! Another benefit-if one of those amps failed, you would still have one to use.

My Ashdown rig is up for sale in the classified section, that’s how much I like my Rumble amps. I did get rid of the Rumble 1X15, because I think the matching 2X10 will work better with it, if and when I ever need it.

If I’m on a small stage, or have PA support, my Rumble 100 is more than adequate. I even thought of getting a second one myself, maybe instead of hooking up another extension cab to the 500C (if I have PA support, that 500C has all the power I need without the extra cabinet!)

That's why I run the first Rumble's send into the regular input of the second Rumble when I daisy chain mine. Both amps sound fantastic and I have complete control over both. It might sound like it'd be hard to dial in the second one, but I simply leave the tone knobs the same as they always are and it just works.

I thought the master amp controls the slave amp??

Yes, all controls on the master amp control the slave amp.

Concerning output of two R100s vs one 500 combo, I think the difference between 200 and 350 watts doesn't affect volume that much. The efficiency, power handling, and other attributes of the speakers will make more difference. I am under the impression that the 10s in the 500C are higher quality than the 12s in the R100, but as always, I could be wrong.

For Rumbles, and some other amps, but not all, that is true only when the FX Send of the first amp is connected to the FX Return of the second. In that case the second power amp runs at full power but its volume is controlled by the signal level from the first amp's Master Volume control.

But my two 2005 Bassman combos allow the Master Volume of the second amp to function when connected from Send to Return. In one band I kept the first amp on my side of the stage and put the second on the other side where the keyboardist could control their desired bass volume only ! It worked quite well.

Again, that is true only when the FX Send of the first amp is connected to the FX Return of the second.

But, if you connect the FX Send of the first amp to the Instrument Input of the second amp, then all of the second amp's controls still work independently of the first amp.

Since the whole Rumble line was specifically designed to sound good, and similar, to each other, I believe the 350W 210 of the R500c is significantly louder than the 200W 212 of 2 R100s. I found my Eminence 210 R500c to be significantly louder than my Eminence 115 2005 Bassman 250 combo (full power w/o extension cab)!

Of course the 10" 175W (or 200W!) 16 ohm speakers of the R500c can handle more power than the 12" 100W 8 ohm speakers of the R100s. But, they are both specifically designed by Fender & Eminence to work well, and sound good, together.

So, for output differences, I would discount speaker differences much more the wattage differences than the wattage differences between the R500c and two R100s.

Yes, only the controls on the master operate when the amps are connected FX send to FX return. I was specifically answering the question @E Buzz asked, which was this exact connection, without further complicating the answer to his question.

And, the wattage difference just doesn't make much difference in SPL on its own. I do agree that the overall design of each combo is the biggest factor, and I also agree that the 500 combo is louder than a pair of 100 combos.

In any case, Rumbles sound darn good!

Sorry. Didn't mean to be pedantic. Just trying to give the proper context for other Rumblers here in different situations. Details can matter. F'rinstance, the FX Send on the Rumble Stage & Studio works differently and has a fixed level unaffected by their Volume controls. So, they have to go into the second amp's Instrument Input to be amplified. Send to Return doesn’t work for those Rumbles. And, of course, other models, even other Fenders, may work differently still. [/pedantic]

Pretty cool how simply the regular Rumbles chain together FX Send to FX Return with the first amp totally controlling both, though!

So curious G-Dog, since I already have an R100, and will be getting the R40 Tuesday, I suppose I can daisy chain them as well? I know the 40 has no fx send/return, but maybe an effects out from the R100 to the R40? Or even an XLR out from the 40 to a 1/4" into the 100? Probably have no need for it, just curious?

Or you could mic the R100>R40.:smug:

A) Did not know that.

B) Is that true for both Pre and Post settings on the Studio 40?

C) I decided not to replace my 200c, since I didn't build a house and moved into a 55 m2 apartment a couple of days ago. The second bedroom will be my studio. Figured I was "stuck" with my Studio 40, but now it seems like I could buy a regular 40 and chain it via the Instrument input. That would be a cool little stack! The regular 40 would be the "stand" for the Studio 40, getting it up closer to ear height. I would put the stack on my Auralex GRAMMA 2. I've got the middle size that was perfect for my old 200c. The small size would be perfect for the 40, but heh, I'll use what I've got.

Thanks for helping me spend more of my money. :roflmao::cool::bassist:

Correct, all the way 'round, 13! Enjoy. :D

Terrific idea, Goner! And the feedback might add that coveted Hendrix-esque vibe, too!

2. On Lé Stúdiemoire, monsieur, it is my understanding that the FX Send is always Post-. I know of no way to configure it otherwise. Please correct me if I am in error.

But the XLR Outs, as you know of course, are configured to Pre- and Post- by default. So, yes, going XLR to another amp will amplify whichever of those signals you connect to. However, the XLRs of the Studio & Stage are not affected by the Master Volume, like the regular Rumbles. So, they too wiil need to go to the second amp's Instrument Input.

I've not heard of anyone connecting a Studio or Stage's USB output to a second amp for reinforcement. Seems it's level is set only in the Menu, which also configures the XLRs between Pre-/Post- and Stereo.

¥. That's a wonderful idea, Maart! There's @Jeremy Jones here who has a Studio/Regular 40 stack that he uses for indoor and outdoor gigs!!! The only diffugilty I envision is access to the controls of the bottom amp. If the Regular 40 is on bottom maybe it can be "set and forget"? Or, maybe, just one or two tweaks on its Master? OR, if the Studio is on the bottom, maybe the Tone App and your 7-button footswitch is sufficient to control it!!
