Fender Rumble Club

It’s probably been discussed before, but has anyone used the 410 and 115 together in a stack? Thinking about picking up another cab (I have a 410) and I use the 800hd. Anyone got experience using 410s and 115s together? Fender has pictures posted on the 115 page with the 410 stacked on top, so I’d assume it’s not a totally random setup that will sound bad.

Hail, anth! @anth021393, you are now member #1536 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

anth, please see my "standard warning" here about using the Rumble 115 cab with the R800hd. It can be done safely if you keep to low volume settings. But I recommend the 115 on top of the 410 because (A.) it's lighter, and (2.) you'll want the 115 closer to ear level to detect any stress from overpowering!

So, how about telling us a bit about yourself, anth, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular. Whatever your situation you're going to fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

Rumble On!

I really enjoy my Rumble head and have used two 210s and a single 410 for use with the head. Admittedly I don’t use the preamp of my head as I use a Sansamp BDDI, Darkglass B3K, and Keeley Compressor for better dialed in tone. I have thought about swapping out my current head for an Orange terror bass, which is 500w. I suppose I wouldn’t have any issues with that head into either cab. I guess my overall curiosity is more about how the rumble 410/115s cabs sound as opposed to the overall output and problems with higher rated wattage.

Both cabs together sound tremendous. Clean, boomy, mostly because of the 115. The 410 brings in the mids. With the Rumble head it becomes a big funk slap machine.

Should not have any problems taking what your sansamp and darkglass stuff throws at it. The 410 is great for distortion.

... ... I’m more in the punk/hardcore world and just looking for a way to be a bit louder and use a head for its full capabilities. Hoping maybe an added 115 would beef up the 410 cab.

In that case, I cannot stress enough, do not use a 300W Rumble 115 cab as a single cab, or one of a pair of cabs! If it gets anywhere close to 400W you can kiss it goodbye. You need no less than three 8 ohm cabs at 267W max each, or four 8 ohm cabs(!) at 200W max each, to safely get your R800hd's full capabilities!! :woot:

But, yes, all the Rumble V3 cabs were specifically designed to sound good together.

Now what if I swapped heads with something that was only 500 watts? Would the 410 and 115 paired with a 500w head be safe for cranking it up?

But then you wont get louder (with the 500 watt head)
Maybe youd want to get a 210 or an additionnal 410.
The most efficient way to get louder is to add up speakers.

if you have the money, go check Mesa cabs. i play with a post hardcore/grunge band, and the 800HD combined with the Mesa 115+112 was loud enough. And sounded great.

the GK NEO 212 was awesome too with that head.

Mesas and GK neos are lighter but louder than the rumbles, with more beef and extended low range

What you really want is the Rumble 212-that they don't make.:(
(but we keep asking them to build)

Yeah I’ve never seen one but I’ve also never searched for one. Thinking (and this may be sacrilege in this thread) about swapping my Rumble 800 head for an Orange Terror Bass 500 watt head. I assume that would send 250w to the 410 and 115 can respectively. Tbh is there a huge difference in volume between an 800 watt and a 500 watt head with two cabs present?

An observation - It is hard to find a used Rumble 500. This either speaks to owner satisfaction or people think they aren't going to get enough for it used...

Thoughts??
I wonder that when the Rumble 800 becomes available, that some R500 owners may sell or trade theirs in and upgrade. You may see more used 500's available towards the end of the year onward. Just a thought.

I do love the clarity of the Rumble 800 watt head, it has served me really well for live gigs of all sizes. Back to my original point, I’m curious to how my current rumble head would work with my current 410 and the added 115.

It depends on the power output of that 500W head. If it puts all 500W into a single 8 ohm cab then, of course, the 300W R115 cab ain't right. If it's the Rumble 500 head it can send up to 350W to the single R115 cab, but just 250W each to a 115+410 (both 8 ohm). Cabs of equal impedance (ohmage) divide the power equally. Some 500W heads send just 300W, or less to a single 8 ohm cab. Check this in their manual before buying a 500 head.

Or anything rated at 4ohm! That would make life easier lol

A single 4 ohm cab could draw up to the full 800W continuous out of your R800hd! Make sure it can handle that! Not 800W program. Not 800W peak. Only either 800W continuous, or RMS.

Even with your (8 ohm?) 410 cab, a 4 ohm cab could draw up to 533W from your R800hd! Even two 4 ohm cabs could draw up to 400W each from the R800hd, just like two 8 ohm cabs. If that sounds confusing, it can be, but that's how the R800hd works. Other heads may work differently. Ya gotta read that part of their manuals, if they specify that.

Hope this helps.

I've noticed them pop up locally here i Australia, normally on Facebook Marketplace. They all disappear within 24-48 hours, so i'm assuming they are sold. Cheap Rumble 500's are what a lot of people are after, especially if they are in good nick. I've got a 200, and if there was a cheap enough 500 floating around at a time Ican jump on it, i'd probably grab it and see how they sound connected up. :)

So I think it does show owner satisfaction, as these sell well in stores and don't appear to frequently second hand (well as frequent as some other brands in my experience), and I also think it shows they are snapped up when on the second hand market as they don't stick around for long.

There will always be people wanting to get as close to what they paid for something. Sometimes this is realistic, other times it is just not realistic and won't move for a long time.

I lucked out. A couple years ago with pandemic going full swing I checked Kijiji and there was 2 used 500Cs in our small Canadian city alone. I got one of them for 475 CA. I wish I got both because I rarely see them in our whole province anymore. Maybe that'll change. I couldn't wait any longer so I got the 210 extension cab instead.

I'm inclined to agree. Someone who wants 2 500s could wait and see how many get sold/traded for the new R800c. I'm considering waiting 'til after they're reviewed and trading my 40, 100, and 200c. And I'd still have my backup MAX110.(P______)

Piece of s***? (kidding)
Ever since I saw the "Undercover Boss" episode about that amp and bass/guitar manufacturer, I refuse to say-or spell-the name. What P____ gear I have(1 bass amp, 1 3channel keyboard amp, 1 mic stand) was purchased b4 they hosed their workers. I'm not gonna throw them away 'til they quit working.
