I have both currently. They're both great amps. I think there is a noticeable difference in tone. The 500 sounds a bit fuller, deeper, and warmer. It's not a huge difference but I prefer the tone of the 500. I'm likely to keep the 800 as it sounds very good and has the benefit of a pre/post XLR out.

Hi Rumblers,

Anyone made the 'upgrade' from 500combo to the new 800? (not the stage)

Are there significant tonal improvements with the different speakers ?
Can you describe?

What wattage would be achieved if the 800 was paired up with a Rumble 210 can 4 ohms?

I wont just to buy it yet then. 500c +210 cab is plenty for me. Just dont like missing out....

That's exactly how I feel about my R500c and R115. The 800 looks spiffy, but I don't need one.

At the rate things are going here(down hill), I think I'll stick with my R40, R100, R200c, and B25.
And, of course, my "practice" amp.

I'm sure he can turn it down from "vaporize" to "puree".

Long time ago, I was playing the lounge in the Williamsburg Inn in Williamsburg, VA. I was using my brand new SVT with 2 fridge cabs. That is the way it was sold then (circa 1970). The manager came over and asked me to please turn down.
I told him the amp was brand new and I was just getting used to it and how loud is it.
He replied, "you know the banquet room on the other side of the kitchen? You're knocking plaques off the wall."
In truth, I was pleased, but I apologized and turned down.
Shortly there after I "downsized" to 1 fridge and a V4B.

I was part of that crowd back then and have hearing aids to prove it. Now, I am looking for the quality of the sound, not the quantity. Hopefully, there will be more of us.

So used my new Rumble 800 tonight for the first time. Man, I thought my Rumble 500 sounded great, this amp definitely kicks it up a level. Sounded awesome! Was running my ‘72 Jazz through a Sadowsky preamp pedal and the TC Electronic SpectraComp compressor into the Rumble.

My wife went to bed a little early tonight, so I lowered the volume for practice. Normally, I want to feel the bass as much as hear it. Tonight I discovered that at conversational levels, my Rumble 100 sounded even sweeter than usual. Total shock. I fell into grooves almost effortlessly. My state was altered (insert texas joke). I was one with the music; the music was one with me. Since science has proven that tone is in the purple silks ( The Tone Is In The Purple Silks Club | TalkBass.com ), I will testify (in court, if necessary) that the Rumble 100 is made of purple silk.

Hello venerable members of the club! Came here seeking advice.

I've bought a Rumble 100 at quite a good price. Everything was working fine for a few weeks when the status-LED started to blink two times after switching off the Rumble. There's also some crackling accompanying the blinking.

Anyone else experienced this? Is this a known issue. Did a search for that issue last night but came up with nothing.

I don't recall reading about this particular occurrence, ct, but it certainly sounds like an electrical issue. I'd have it checked out, preferably by an Authorized Fender Service Center, just in case it's a unit replacement issue.

Yes, I will take the amp to a repair-tech. I will come back here posting my now work-in-progress-rig and everything.

Last night I played bass at a jam/birthday at a local club. They had a 5-string Jazz and for an amp, a MarkBass head and a Carvin 4-10 cabinet. Nothing but mud. Probably the worst bass tone I'd ever had in a live situation. I sure missed my Precision with an EMG GZR pickup through the FENDER RUMBLE! My Rumble 100 would have been the perfect match for the small room.
