Fender Rumble Club

Curious to know what you all set your volume to when gigging. I'm using the new 800c. This is how I have mine set. Top is for the Sting Ray, bottom is for my Ibanez. If I move the gain or master up more than this, I get a sound I can only assume is clipping. The red light flashes amber for a split second especially while I'm plucking directly over the pick up. I really want to turn this up louder, as it doesn't compete well with other band mates. Thoughts?

Just curious, is this running with the switch for 100W or 400W? Because I can get pretty good volume with volume set at those levels with my R100 and play with a medium loudness band.

I have just one thought. Have you tried running the gain all the way off yet? You might try that and see if you can turn the master up. You might have a couple of extremely powerful basses. My Rumbles work fine with the gains all the way off.

Although it appears to be a different issue, I did experience problems with my Rumble 100, which included random crackling noises. If interested, you can read more about it in my previous post. Fender Rumble Club

Good point! Danny, the gain control on a Rumble is not an input volume. It's more like a sound board's gain control.

I'd try the gain suggestion mentioned and if that doesn't do it, I'd suggest setting the amp to a flat EQ and then cutting frequencies instead of boosting. Boosting is a quick path to clipping.

Still, start with SteelBed's suggestion so you can at least rule out (or not) that aspect of it. And often, you can get what you need by cutting the other end out rather than boosting that end.

Are you listening to it in the mix from way out front, or just on stage?

I always use VINTAGE-adds depth(or something?). I run BASS-10 or 11, LM-1ish, HM-2ish, TR-9 or 10. GAIN-9 to noon, VOLUME-10/11. If a room is boom-y, I add BRIGHT(never use CONTOUR). NEVER have FOH/PA support. Or use OVERDRIVE-except as a MUTE function. On the rare occasions I use my active 5er, GAIN is 7(off). Other 3 basses are passive.

Dan, the Power/Status light is supposed to flash amber for uncompressed bass. See my previous post about that.

I did this. Turned the gain all the way down. Turned my bass volume way down, too. I think I've found the right settings to avoid clipping. I noticed the clipping is worse at 100w vs 400w.

I think my main issue is that I'm just not happy, nor impressed with the volume and the quality of the volume. For a 400w amp, I expected more I guess. I tried a Peavey 300 max, and that filled a room and the mix better than this rumble. Wondering if there's something wrong with the rumble....

Can you take it somewhere and compare it with another Rumble 800 Combo side by side?
