I'm very sorry, Tom, and I apologize. I initially wrote that about possible "over compression," but, due to my ol' timers, I was confusing it with "over filtering" with internal & external
HPFs from
this post. I have no explanation or defense for confusing these two unrelated topics.

edited my post to correct my intended statement, but you must have read and remembered my unedited post. My sincere apologies for my error.
I'm now of the opinion, as if I may now be somewhat sane again, that an external compressor poses very much less threat than an external HPF. The Delta-Comp circuit is dynamic in its response to your playing dynamics, whereas an external compressor is more consistent at any specific setting. Yes, you may need to adjust an external compressor over the course of a whole set, or gig, due to different songs and/or changing acoustics due to crowd size or environment. But I believe that's the case
with or
without the Delta-Comp circuit. So, don't let the Delta-Comp scare you away from an external compressor, if it sounds good to you.
