I believe you're misreading the list, Pulver, and may not have read the review itself. The #1 choice is, indeed, the Rumble 500 combo amp. With 3-button voicing and all the normal Rumble amp stuff. :thumbsup:

The Rumble 210 cabinet you apparently are mistaking for the #1 choice is more often referred to as "700 watts" (program power, 350w continuous). ;)

Does your bass have an active preamp, with one or two 9-volt batteries? That could explain the distorted, overdriven sounds, especially if the battery, or batteries, are running down! :eyebrow:

Welcome to TalkBass, Jim. :D

Yes, the Rumble 410 is a very fine speaker cabinet with the same power handling ratings as the Bassman 410 cab, 500 watts continuous, 1,000 watts program. At about twice the price the Bassman has Neodymium, instead of ferrite, speakers, a bigger volume and thicker wood but, otherwise, not much more. ;)

They even shared some of their design team members, and both speaker lines sound quite good with each other. For example, I hear no significant difference between my Rumble 500 2x10" ferrites when used with my Bassman 115 Neo extension cab. And the TB Fender Bassman Club has several members using Rumble cabs with their Bassman heads, if that's what you're considering. :thumbsup:

The subject of a physical fit may be another matter, though. The Super Bassman and the 100T heads are both 24.5 inches wide while the Rumble 115 and 410 cabs are just 23 inches wide. (Although, the Bassman 500 & 800 heads are just 22.37 inches wide.) But the Rumble 410 cab is 25 inches tall and can provide a stable base for a Super or 100T Bassman if turned on its side. :)

Picked up bass at the beginning of the pandemic--so playing for 3 years. I have: a parts P-bass from a 60s classic vibe and All-Parts neck that I shaved down; a homemade bass that I built with hand tools; a Gretsch Junior Jet; and a crappy Ibanez GAXB 150 that I purchased for my son but that he has shown no interest in after a few online lessons.

Started with a crappy Rumble 15 that I blew in the first 6 months. Upgraded to the Rumble 100 during Fender's Black Friday sale before the holidays this year--after almost buying a used V1 Rumble 100 with the 15 speaker and red light---price was the same, so I went with the newer (and much lighter and smaller) one. I have yet to find a group of folks to play with, so I mostly do punk rock and ska covers in my mancave and post to you tube. Very difficult for an 45 yr old fully employed dude with kids to find a group of like-minded people to jam with. \

I went with the Rumble 100 based on online reviews, and in-store demo. I was seriously considering the Ampeg Rocket, but could not find one to try out nearby. The Black Friday sale kind of sealed the deal for me.

What kind of like-minded are you looking for? Some of the best jamming i ever did was with a single guy who was much younger than me.

How are you using it? To gig? For your own personal enjoyment? There are probably a lot of factors that go into making a decision like the one you are making. I'd ask myself these questions. Can you afford it or is it going to hurt? Lotta decisions to make. Then maybe someone else who knows more about a Bassman cab can chime in.

Best for small gigs?!?!? If I took a 500 to where we meet and cranked it, it would be the Big Bad Wolf blowing down the house, except from inside!

IKR? like there's such a big difference between the 500 & 800, ... NOT!

Then there are reviews like this with several questionable statements in them, like "A small, powerful amplifier (less than 1000 watts) will not blow the roof off your house." Man! I don’t know what kinda house he's got, but my 500 (at just 350 watts) can do it, if I let it!

How's Madison there days? I attended UW in the mid-'70s and had a blast. I had Friday and Saturday night season tickets for the hockey team, 2nd row next to the opponent's bench. I lived in the Regent apartments, across the street from the sadly departed Brat and Brau. F'm Bucky! Wonderful times!

I've never cranked one R100, much less two (which isn't that much louder, but it is louder) in this house. It'll definitely rattle stuff off shelves and walls, at the very least. Cranked somewhat over half way, it will rattle nearly things on every wall[1] in this 2,000+ square foot house, thank you very much.

[1] Small closets and half bath excepted. I think.
