I love my Rumble 100v3 and my Rumble 500v3 head and 115 cab. All work well. Last night, I was able to play through Mesa Subway D800 into an Ampeg cab. 210 I think. So I just want to see who else has tried or uses one of these heads. What's the opinion of it compared to a Rumble 800.

I had a similar setup: D800+ into a MarkBass 210. Mine was a 4 ohm cab, so the full 800 watts was fed to the cab. With judicious settings and playing habits, I loved the tone and felt there was never anything (power, heft, what have you) lacking.

I now have the 800c and feel it is on par, with a little something extra. IMO, of course. I don’t feel I am missing anything, even if I ‘just have’ 400 watts in the 210’s…

Yes, they are.

Will the tone of the amp be similar but just louder?

Yes.

I’m sure the different type of speakers will change the sound.

Yes, along with the cab.

My hope is that I would have the same tone with just more headroom.

I have pretty hot pickups on my main bass (G&L L-2000), and I can get a really punchy sound, very reminiscent of a tube amp I once had, just by setting the gain at 2 or 3 o'clock, and the master volume at 10 o'clock. It's a little different sounding than the overdrive circuit. Warmer maybe?

Well, not much to tell…the details of my life are inconsequential… just a bedroom /1 gig a year player.

So... I'm getting a pretty busy gigging schedule that includes some reasonably sized outdoor venues as well as the typical club and casino. As such, I decided to upgrade my amp from the current R200c+R210. So I'm test-driving the R500c+R210 and as soon as it gets here, the R800C+R210. I can see the additional utility of the 800 with the attenuator switch (and the 7 1/2# lighter is a plus).

Question is, with the stacked 10's, is there a sonic difference between these 2 cabinets (800 and 210) due to their different speaker material? Will the 210 match better with the R500 because they are identical speakers or does it not make any difference?

So, anyone out there who have paired either of these or has the theoretical knowledge, please speak up.

When I had the cab and 800c side by side on the floor, the 210 cab seemed to draw my attention, possibly just a volume difference between it and the combo. Stacked however, I can’t hear any difference, it seems cohesive. The 500c with the 210

cab seems a little warmer tone wise than the 800c and the cab. But the 800c and cab is a beast of a rig, there’s a forward, low mid aggression in the 800c that I really like.

Yep, pretty sure all the Rumbles from the 40 on on up (not sure about the 25?) all have the same preamp/eq electronics. The Rumble Wiki page should have all the detailed info though.

After A/B/A testing a RB112, 40c and 100c in a store's sound room (cool feature in that place!), I didn't like the vanilla tone of the RB. Sure it did everything well, but I didn't connect to the overall tone. The 100c was good but I found it boomy for my liking. I could dial in a nice tone but the 40c seemed to have a better overall tone and dialing around just meant I was opening up different tones that all were based off that basic one I preferred.

My point is that I like the Rumble tone over the RB. When doing that above test I really didn't want a 40c as I was looking for 100+ amps. In the end tone won and I'm putting aside pennies for a 500c. The 800c seems really interesting too but some of the reviews hint that it's tone is more modern than the 500c (closer to the RB?).

So while this TBer has this beautiful pair of stacks, I figured I'd just ask

The 500c with the 210 View attachment 5029301 cab seems a little warmer tone wise than the 800c and the cab.

Correct the speaker while both 10" are different eq wise. The 500C/210 have the mid scooped ceramics and the 800C has the flatter mids and treble boosted neo.

Is there a graphical/visual representation or comparison of how the 2 differ in there inherent tone/eq?

Do you have a graph for the 15" in the 200c? I had one for years, but had to sell it when I moved to a 230VAC country.

So someone doing this should end up with "flat" settings a bit different on the 800 vs the other Rumbles....
