Yes, but that's another wire to run underfoot in(usually)cramped space. They way I use the 'mute' function is-perhaps-different. In most of the places our band plays, I have very limited access to the amp once we start. I plug in the amp, making sure I'm getting power, then plug the cable into the input with the OD off/mute, finish setting up other stuff (mic stand, music stand, PA-if it's my turn to provide it [no place we play has a house PA],
then plug cable into bass. It's the last thing I set up. Stays in its case 'til just b4 downbeat. Then hit 'un-mute' button. And, off we go.

*usually use the 200c-hafta 'push' the 100 too much here
