Fender Rumble Club

As far as I know, the 115 BX BW is a 4 ohm cab, which, together with the Rumble 500c would create a load of 2.67 ohms, which is too low for the Rumble. Don’t do it.

Per peavey, it comes in both a 4 ohm and 8 ohm version. I *think* it says 8 ohms on the sticker after the 115BX, but can't read that small, faded label well enough to be sure. Maybe that just says BW...

With the Peavey, 8 is great...4 is not. I remember my old Peavey Combo BW 300 and extension Cab sounded great but, I needed a hydraulic lift to move them :bawl:. I have no idea what the cabs resistance was and it has to be 8 ohms or bad things will happen with that Rumble.

If there’s an 8 ohm version, that’d be OK. But double-checking this is strongly advised.

As mentioned above, for the Rumble 500 combo your extension cab must be 8 ohms, or higher, to prevent damage to the amp. If the sticker on the back is not readable, or doesn't list the ohms, then you must have it checked to be sure.

Meanwhile, how about telling us a bit about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You'll fit right in, whatever your situation, 'cause we have all kinds here. But we all love to ... ... ...

Hi everyone! Has anyone tried the 500 210 with an older Rumble 112? Thoughts? I liked my Bassman 112, so there I'd potential.


Well, Pel, define "older Rumble 112". :confused:

Do you mean the now discontinued Rumble V3 112 with the grille that matches the Rumble 500 combo? It can handle the 250 watts continuous that the R500c can dish out, plus it's the same width & depth as the R500c so it'll also look good doing it under the combo! :thumbsup:

Or do you mean the even older Rumble V2 112 with the black metal grille and the Neodymium speaker? IIRC it can also handle the 250 watts continuous that the R500c can output, but it's dimensions are different, a bit smaller, I believe, so it may have to sit on top of the combo. And that smaller size might not give the same rich sound as the V3 112, I dunno. ;)

Thanks for the info. I’m pretty sure it’s (unfortunately) only 4 ohms. I was hoping for some sexy low end to accompany the nice punch of the rumble. Oh well, gotta find a new extension.

Thanks for the reply. I'll be on the lookout fir a V3 112, but they seem hard to find. time will tell!

I have two 115 BX BWs and both are 4-Ohm. Mine are from the early/mid 90's. I don't remember ever seeing an 8-Ohm version.
I looked up the manual online, and it states that the cab was in fact available in both 4- and 8-ohm versions. It does appear that the 4-ohm version was somewhat more ubiquitous, so I would be very wary of connecting said cab to a Rumble 500c unless I was absolutely, positively certain it was the 8-ohm version.
 
I believe it’s unfortunately 4 ohms.

If you have a digital multi-meter handy, you can check the impedance without having to pull out any speakers or anything crazy like that.

Just set the multimeter on a DC resistance (Ohm setting) and plug a speaker cable into the cabinet and measure the free end of the speaker cable (the tip & sleeve) with the multimeter.
