Fender Rumble Club

I've just been playing around with the overdrive on the rumble. It's infinitely better than on my previous amp (GK Backline 600). Even full on it still maintains a wealth of bass. So many overdrives I've tried end up making you sound like a slightly deep guitar.

I can see me using a bit of overdrive in my tone settings quite a lot.

I was also using a Backline 600 as my previous amp. The overdrive on the Rumble totally retains the low end and is so much more dynamic, it reacts more to your playing, while the BL600 just kinda sits there making noise. The Rumble's overdrive certainly comes in handy.

I just got rid of my Rumble 500 combo - but picked up a rumble 4x10 to go with my rumble 115. I picked up a Markbass Little Mark 250 black line because the tone had more character. While. I "liked" the 500, the last two gigs, I've felt it was just blah. Like there was nothing to it no matter what I did. I also am going to be getting a GK 1001 (picked up used here on talkbass) and will compare them. The rumble 410 is awesome and I was really impressed with it. I a/b'd the hell out of things at the Guitar Center - I had my 115 and 500 in the car so we tried a lot of things. The 500 plus the 410 was missing a little something. I'm glad to stay with the Fender cabs (they look great stacked too!) and happy I will have the flexibility with heads.

If anyone wants me to, I'll post some video of the various combinations this weekend. (GK, little mark and 115, 410 etc).

The master knob is slightly scratchy what do you guys suggest I do?

Pull the knob and attach a section of plastic drinking straw. Spray judiciously while turning the shaft of the control fully in each direction. You want to soak & clean the interior contacts while at the same time lubricating the potentiometer. And just because, and not to insult your intelligence - do this with the amp off and unplugged. OK? Wait until dry before operating.

I want to echo Linnin's suggestion to do it judiciously! This stuff works great on instruments also. It just doesn't take much. Keep rotating the pot from full on to full off for a good little while.

When I was young, I used way, way too much and didn't rotate the potentiometer much at all. It seized up on me. Used right it will clean a scratchy pot for sure!

Mine is too, until about 8 o'clock. I was told to bring the gain down, then find a comfortable master level. If it scratches above 8 o'clock (full band volume), I don't know what to tell you.
I just got a 500 head last week and noticed there was just a tiny bit of static on the Master. I can just hear it from off to about 8-9 o'clock if there is signal coming from the bass while I'm turning the knob. I was debating sending it back. I'm a little picky when I pay full price for new gear.

Mine has been this way since day one. Doesn't bother me enough to send it back, but kinda glad I'm not the only one.
