Fender Rumble Club

Sorry - my bad. I knew one of them had it, thought it was the 200. Happy to be corrected. Puts the 200 back in the running I guess.
I loved my old 200 combo. It wasn't dual voltage, so I had to sell in when I moved across the pond.

One option the 200/500/800 combos provide is an external cab connection. Sure, you can purchase a second Rumble combo and chain them via the FX loop, but with the 200 on up, you can use an unpowered speaker cab. The Rumble line includes a 115 (same driver as the 200 combo) and a 210 (and even a 410). The 210 has the same dimensions as the 200 combo and works great. The 115 cabinet is slightly larger than the 200/500/800 combos, and that is off-putting to some peeps, me included.

I think you would find a 200 combo plus 210 speaker cab would give you pretty much all you'd ever need, unless you're going to open for AC/DC or Metallica in a stadium or outdoors. :roflmao::bassist:

I am buying a Rumble 500 this week to use at my next gig on 12/9. After trying it at a store and combining it with a single 1 15 cab I was blown away by it's power and sound. And after reading all the reviews on a few threads I am confident that it will solve my gigging needs. P Dog suggested I join this forum thread I have not read all the posts but it seems like a great source of info. I will post a gig review of the amp after my gig. Thanks for this thread it's cool.

I think the mid scoop scoops the real mid, between low mid and high mid, am I right ?
OK I'm wrong... I'm wrong, nobody answers.
Let's post...

I mean, when high and low mids are at 75 % it becomes flat between low and high mids.
Does it sound stupid ?

If by "the mid scoop" you mean the Contour button, then you are correct, sir! Per the curve of the Contour, Bright & Vintage buttons, and the published specs, the Contour reduction centers on 670 Hz, between the Low Mid at 280 Hz and the High Mid at 1.2 kHz.

That sounds about right to me, Leo. When the Low Mid and High Mid is at about 2 o'clock*, or approx. 70%, and the Contour is off, the frequencies between the mids are essentially flat, as shown in the curve for the actual flat EQ settings.

Well, davidPbass, ;) if you think this thread is a great info resource, you ain't seen nothing yet! @davidjbass, you are now member #1703 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

So, dave, how about telling us a bit about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? You'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

Hey thanks P Dog. Long story short. 60 years young. Been playing bass since age 15. I have been playing in various original and cover bands over the past 45 years. Recorded 3 CD's and various other songs and jingles along the way. Went to BIT and Berklee College of Music. Currently playing with my cover band www.noalibirocks.com once a month at a bunch of different venues in central MA. I am golf pro by profession. So even though that keeps me in great shape for my age I started to find out a couple of years ago that hauling all this big gear was wearing on me. Especially at 2 am! So my quest began to find a smaller rig that had a loud full sound but yet was easy on the back if you know what I mean. Tried many different combinations. Some worked some didn't. I always like the sound of a 2 10 with a horn and a 1 15. But could never find a 2 10 that I liked. I have been using Bag End S15d's for years. Love the sound and the portability but they were always missing that high end snap that I needed for my funk style playing. And I wanted to make things simpler by hauling less gear thus my search started for a small combo that I could take to jams, practices or smaller gigs that was light and had the features that I needed. After reading about the Rumble 15 on one of the threads here I decided to go and check it out. First thing I did was pick it up. Wow! Nice and light. Then I plugged in my P Bass 5 and my Spector 5 and I could not believe that sound I got out of it. And the filters that are on the amp highlighted both of my basses real well. Now I was dubious about its wattage and if it would be loud enough for my gigs. So I added a 1 15 to it and I could not believe how huge it sounded. The combination of the Bag End S15d and the Rumble 500 will surely handle any club my band plays. I am hoping that it's a work horse and that I won't have it crapping the bed after a year or so like some of the amp heads I have tried. But that will only be determined in time. I have high hopes for it. I will take some pics of the set up with my basses at our gig this weekend. Maybe have my wife take a video. Thanks for the thread and the other one that is listed here https://www.talkbass.com/threads/fender-rumble-500-combo.1332173/page-2 they really informed me a lot. I don't think I would have checked out this amp with reading all the info on both of these threads. Its great to be a member. Thanks.

But, haven't you heard? All 12s isn't really neutral, or flat. It's a bit scooped. If you really want neutral, or flat, try B, LM, HM, T at approximately 10, 2, 2, 10 (actually 10, 1:30, 2, 1:30).
.

I was just randomly scrolling through the club here and came across this. I love my R100 but I've been struggling to find a good "neutral" setting that works between my 2 parts-basses. They both have Bronco necks, Sentell pickups wired to almost the same resistance, one with a Mustang body and one with a Musicmaster. Hugely different tones and changing settings has been a very inexact science. This setting is a great place to start and has helped immensely. I really need to remember all the useful info here. Thanks!

Also during my scrolling I saw some folks posting photos of old/first amps they had. I don't have photos of my past amps and it took a while to find this photo online. This was the first bass amp I ever had. SG system/Gibson, 100watts. It weighed a ton and was as tall as me. 2-10's and 1-15 along with the knobs that were about 4 inches in diameter, all housed in a cabinet that was about an inch thick with heavy metal on all the edges and corners. Luckily it was on casters but lifting it in and out of the car or a set of stairs were disappointing affairs.

One thing I've learned about "custom design" by Eminence speakers is that it means there will be no aftermarket recone kits for those speakers.

For example, if I get an old Eden bass cab that have Eden made speakers, I can get aftermarket recone kits. If I get a newer Eden bass cab (which are usually loaded with custom designed "made by Eminence" speakers) there are no recone kits available.

I normally run my Rumble EQ flat and do my tone shaping on the pedalboard. I have a switch that switches between basses, and when it does, it also switches between FX loops associated with each bass channel. Currently each loop just has an EQ in it.

I remember when those came out. Metal edging all around and different size knobs. And way too heavy!

I have a Sansamp Programmable on the way. I hooe to be able to set up each of my 2 parts-basses in a channel and leave the 3rd for the other 2 which sound pretty similar.

Hi !

I'm still experimenting, I played with a 7 string guitar, I play jazz with (low A), it's very interesting, it's a bit harsh, maybe some reverb is missing, highs are very aggressive because of the tweeter.
I think low and high mids are very opposite.
Adding some bass warms the sound.
When turning off the treble knob, the tweeter disappears and it's good.

Hello Everyone,

I recently joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I’m a 30 year guitar player and I started studying bass in September. I bought a Squier Classic Vibe 60’s P Bass and Rumble 500 as my rig, which I'm really enjoying. Played my first gig in mid-November and certainly learned a lot, lol! Here’s a pic from the gig…View attachment 5275146
What did you learn?

Howdy, Redd! You didn't shoot your eye out, didja, partner? I'm a big fan of your BB gun! (The little known competitor to the Red Ryder.)

@ReddRanger, you are now member #1704 in the Fender Rumble Club.
Congratulations and welcome to TalkBass in general and to The Club in particular. Please put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. Then make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, the repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

Can you elaborate on your Rumble journey a bit? What made you choose the R500c? (One of my personal favorites.) At any rate, you'll fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all love to ... ... ...

Rumble On!
