1) The "Fender Rumble Club" is a thread in the "Amps & Cabs" subforum. You are correct that "Post a Reply" is the way to add a post/comment to the thread.Relative newbie (been playing about a year) questions (patience appreciated):
* I didn’t see a link to start a new post in the club. Is the only option to “Post a Reply” at the end of the last posting? I did see a “Post” option at a higher (non-club level) place.
* I’d like to record some of my playing - for self evaluation. Using the built-in mics on my iPhone/ipad doesn’t yield a great result. I have the GarageBand app on the iPad. Can I use the XLR port on my Rumble 40 v3 with an XLR to Lightening cable to go directly into Garage Band on the iPad? If so - will connecting to XLR mute the Rumble 40 speaker? Is this a good route to simple recording or are there other good options? One advantage, to my newbie brain, is that Garage Band will allow multi-track recording and the addition of some built-in drum rhythms.
Thanks!

2) The XLR out on your Rumble is an audio output. To get that into your iPad, you will need a Class Compliant audio interface that can connect to your iPad via a Lightning-to-USB cable. You'll also need a cable that is XLR male to 1/4" TRS male to connect the Rumble to the audio interface.. The XLR connectors on audio interfaces are for low level microphone connections. The XLR output from the Rumble is Line Level. Consider the following video:
I recommend the Focusrite Scarlett Solo or similar. As I mentioned, you need a Line Level input on the audio interface. The low-end audio interfaces typically offer mic and instrument inputs, but not line level.
Scarlett Solo
I also have a headphone (1/8 male) to Lightening connector that I haven’t tried from Rumble 40 to iPad. Not sure whether this connection will work. I assume that, even if it did, it will mute the Rumble 40 speaker (since the speaker is muted when I use headphones). Thanks for the posting and interface info. Saved me from buying an XLR to Lightning cable and it not being what I needed. I’ll look into the interface that you mentioned.

Certainly, Steve-O.
Yes, as this is your 11th post in The Club, and your 68th on TalkBass, I'd say you're getting the hang of it! And the three TB threads you started look like you're doing it correctly.
A TB "Club" is just a regular thread that gives some context and background to certain topics. Other threads may also address the same, or slightly different, topics. Linking different threads can help "sew" them together. See the TalkBass Clubs and Special Interest Groups INDEX for links to many other threads that may be of interest.
I'm not familiar with GarageBand on an iPad, but I would think that could work. Yes, multi-tracking can be lots of fun!
No, connecting a Rumble's XLR doesn't mute it's speaker. Only a plug in the Headphone jack does that.
Hope this helps.

That’s what I bought that cable to do - but haven’t done yet. Tend to play along to the iPad through a Bluetooth speaker so far.
IMO, your 1/8” male-to-lightening is best used for streaming music from your iPad into the Rumble's Aux for better music sound when playing along!

Thanks for the reminder “lightning vs lightening”. I got it correct in my, roughly, 1 of 3 references so far.Just for the record, it's "Lightning". Lightening is what you do to your hair that used to be called "bleaching".
“Ride the Lightening” would be a completely different song. Thanks for the reminder “lightning vs lightening”. I got it correct in my, roughly, 1 of 3 references so far.
800c arrived. Passed the first hurdle, it fits under my desk table.
Wow, that's a lotta bass tone. Guess I got used to the flat response from the Peavey MiniMAX. Turned down the bass control a bit, all is well.![]()
Thanks. I went from a Rumble 40 to the Peavey+a Hartke cab, and back to the R800. Same voicing on the R40 as the R800. (Which I like.) The Peavey with everything at noon is completely flat. Wanted something with enough power to be articulate, which the Peavey can do, but missed the Rumble sound. The 800 is way overkill for me, but liked the idea of the neo speakers and light weight.View attachment 5312088
The top graph is with EQ set at 12 (noon).
Gotta catch 'em all!Rumble 800 ordered and on the way, expected Sunday. It will join my R100 and R40.![]()

This is just some directionless noodling, but still interesting. Yet another proof that what goes around, comes around.
Might have to let you take it for a test drive at one of your gigsAWRIGHT!![]()
