My fender rumble story started when I had to sell my PF-500 portaflex and go ampless for a moment. I needed something to get along with, so a Rumble 40 fit the bill. It was NOT loud enough but that tone was perfect. So I searched for a season and ended up selling the 40 after I found a 100 for $110 with a cover. The 100 sounded loud enough and it has even survived a 500 person outdoor event without PA support. But last night at practive I had a revelations, two of them is ALL i need for any situation.
I like to mic mine. I found a Behringer C112 which is a D112 copy for $60. As long as you are cool with sounding absolutely huge in the PA, it works well. Stick it right on the cone and enjoy the fat lows. But beware, its a lot of smiley face so use the "flat" settings to start.
