Fender Rumble Club

Well...the 500 combo with 115 extension is scheduled for delivery from Fed Ex tomorrow. It should arrive in a time frame where I'll pretty much have time to plug it in at home to make sure the power comes on. Then it's time to load it up and bring it to the gig. Trial by fire.

The thing I'm most looking for is that "oh poopie" look my bandmates will have on their faces when they see me loading this set up in after watching me carry around my little TC Electronic 1x15 for all this time.

Guess I'll be needing a number.

I'm thinking about adding a 1x15 to my 500 combo too. Please let us know the full report. Thanks.

Member 207 again with an update on the addition of the 2nd Rumble 210 cab to my Rumble 500 combo rig. Previously I had tried the 112 cab with the 500 combo which I liked very much, but I researched and succumbed to the temptation to have the advantages mentioned here of dynamic coupling by having two identical cabs. I must say that this worked out MUCH better than I anticipated that it would. I got all the lows I wanted and a great punchiness with punchy mids, crisp highs (horn off on the combo, half on the ext. cab) and thunderous clean, deep, but not boomy lows. Ran it just above 1/4 gain and about the same on the volume. Played a gig with two keyboards, three horns, three guitars and drums with no problem in the mix or onstage volume. Thanks to those who recommended this and although I was quite pleased with the 112 extension cab, the other kicker was the 350 watts that the ext. Rumble cab handles. I also have a rack amp with a carvin amp and tech 21 RBI preamp that sounds incredible through the extension cab and can be used to input through the FX return to have 350 watts per side instead of splitting the 500 watt power of the combo. It was more power than I needed outside, but I kept it handy in case the volume got unbearable, but it never did. To celebrate, I went out and got a Rumble 40 V3 and traded in my old Rumble 25 which weighed a massive 32 pounds!!! Nice sound, but the little Rumble 40 is a way cool amp! Didn't care for the sound of the Rumble 100 though, anyone else find that one a little boxy?

The Ampeg SVT810E or standard Ampeg 810 cab is 4 ohms. Perfect for the Rumble 500 head.
You can run the 810 cab as two 8 ohm loads (therefore a 4 ohm total) top 4 speakers and bottom 4 speakers but best to simply plug yr Rumble amp into the 4 ohm socket on the rear
Still confused a bit.

I'll need 2 cables on my head, to the upper and lower input jacks?

Ahem.. Clark Westfeld. How about make sure you've FOCUSED your camera/cell phone whenever taking a pic? That picture leaves me just as confused as you are, because I can't get nada out of it. No matter how many times I take my glasses off and on. ;)

I got a coupon for 15% off any item at Guitar Center so I pulled the trigger on a new Rumble v3 500 combo. Cost out-the-door, sales tax and all: $504.89. What a cherry amp!

I already had a v3 40 for practice which I like tons.

I also have a v2 350, which is a great amp. November, 2014, I upgraded to Eminence drivers which have never been played past 4.5 on the volume. I have zero complaints about its performance. My v2 350 combo is a solid, great-sounding amp.
I bought the v3 500 for two reasons: optional extension cabinet and lighter weight.

The Rumble v2 350 combo with upgraded Eminence drivers is for sale now. Anyone interested?

Sorry dude, long day.

Also, are all of the Ampeg 810's wired the same way?

The promoter just said Ampeg 810.

I'm very happy with the sound of the Rumble 100, and don't find it boxy at all - the overdrive was faulty, though, can't wait until I receive the replacement.
My v3 100 is not the least bit boxy in any of the different spaces I used it thus far. Maybe JakobT and I are just fortunate. I won't be surprised if eventually I find a location that doesn't suit it acoustically. If mine sounded boxy In most of the places I play, I would return it. If a return wasn't possible then I would take time and line the boxiness right out of it per Lennin. No reason to accept a less than stellar report from our amps.

Well, I just took delivery of my 500 combo and 115. I got a bit of a scare and I'll have to watch out here in the coming days. I hooked it all up and was getting nothing out of the 15. Tried a different speaker cable and still nothing. I wasn't sure if it was the 15 or a bad out on the combo so I plugged a head into the 15 and got some life out of it. I tried the combo again and suddenly it was working. The thing did feel quite warm to the touch. I live in Florida and it's been on the Fed Ex truck all day..so hopefully everything is good with it now.

As far as the sound...I haven't been able to really judge. I live in apartment so I've only had it at a low volume. There was a guy earlier in this thread who said he felt the 15 didn't really make a difference. I will say it seems very transparent, however, even at this low volume I can get a sense of how it beefs up the sound. It's definitely subtle, but I noticed the sound to be a bit more thin without it. Tonight I'll be playing in a pretty large room so I'll really get to put the stuff through its paces and I'll be able to judge better if the 15 will work for me or if I might want to go the 210 route instead.

Oh, and man is that 115 light. I don't even know why they bothered with casters for it. Any weakling could easily carry that thing.

Plug ONE SPEAKER lead from your Rumble amp into either ONE of the JACK OR SPEAKON SOCKETS in the bottom four sockets.
That's it. That'll give you a 4 ohm load in MONO. You don't wanna run stereo or any other way

Well I just finished "binge reading" this forum, and have pulled the trigger and ordered a Fender Rumble 500 v3 combo...it should be here next week. I can't wait, hopefully will be here before next week's gigs. I get a great tone from my current setup, but only after a lot of setup. I'm excited to get great tone combined with portability. Here is a shot of my current right from last weekend. I will post pic of my Rumble when it arrives as per protocol. How about a number?

Pretty classy setup. Standup bass, a Fender Jazz, and a Shure SM58. The only thing missing is a nice amp.:D Like a Fender Rumble 500! Welcome!

One of the things I've read that I've been wanting to comment on is this...I have been able to get the tube-like overdrive I want over the years with a Sansamp BDDI, when I send that effected signal to a sound guy I've had nothing but complements...The new rumble with a great OD circuit, cab simulation, and XLR out is going to be like having a Sansamp BDDI built in....less setup/tear down time...I can't wait to setup/teardown in one trip.

Hey, does anyone have an idea of how much power a 500 amp would draw with headphones plugged in? I just splurged on a 500 head and a 4x10 cab, so I need to have a cheap electric bill this next few months.
It's hard to give an exact figure (try using a Kill-A-Watt or something if you've got one lying around, maybe?) but I think it's fair to assume that with the power amp section basically turned off, consumption is negligible.

You could be banging away on that with your 4-10" cab for weeks, and not notice an increase in your bill! Appliances such as fridges, dehumidifiers, etc. are going to draw a lot more power than that head. Enjoy!!
