Fender Rumble Club

We've got a lot of tone tips out there to include the tone pool, and a number of posts on gain structure, and also quite a few Rumble Talks. If you've not read them you can always run a search for those and bring yourself up to speed. Exploring the Overdrive's capabilities would be a good topic for discussion.

Kinney pointed me to the tone pool and it was a big help. Not familiar with Rumble Talks. I'll see if I can find that.

Had my first glitch in over a year of steady use with the Rumble 100 the other day. Closing day of a 3 week long show - final big production number - Rumble quits in the middle of the tune. Had all the tone knobs nooned, none of the effects buttons engaged, gain and volume at around 10:30 or 11:00. Passive bass (Ibanez Mikro). Just shut down with pilot light flashing in a steady pattern. Shut it off, light kept flashing. Unplugged it, light stopped, replugged it, turned it on and finished the show, bows and exit music.

Used the 'chat' function on the Fender website to find out about the flashing light - they said it indicated a fault but couldn't be more specific. Most likely bad power (under-voltage) or heat. The band was right under an a/c duct in a cool theatre, so I doubt heat was the issue. On the other hand, it's an 80 year old building with sketchy electrical (I'm an electrical contractor in real life so I know these things!!!). Hoping that's all it was.

Anybody out there have a similar issue? Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Linnin - Haven't used it at all since the episode 2 Sundays ago. I'll be pulling it out tomorrow and giving it a light workout, but I'm assuming that since it worked fine after 'rebooting' that it will be OK. I will be testing it extensively before the next show, which runs the best part of December. I'll also have 4 nights of intense rehearsals immediately before that show to decide whether to trust it or send it in for service. If it's a no-go, I've got an ***eg rig that will fill the void. Not trying to yank your chain - I just happen to like both of these amps for different reasons. I don't take every shot on the golf course with the same club, so that philosophy extends to my musical playing also.

Let us know. I also suspect it was just the amp protecting itself. The reboot would be normal. My Bose L1_1s has done the same thing twice. Both times I have blamed the venue's faulty wiring because both times the wiring was iffy, to say the least. The Bose reboots itself though.

As far as the ***eg rig goes, a lot of us have no problem with owning different equipment. I would own one of everything if I could. I'm not down on ***eg, I just like Fender better. I've had plenty of ***egs. Their discontinued B100R is still one of my favorites of all time. Best bass amp I ever played through until I bought my V3 200 Rumble. My V3 100 is my bedroom/practice/small gig amp. The 200 is my main amp now. I might even end up with a 500 for outdoor events. I was even looking at the v3 15 Rumble last week. And the 25. Nothing compares with the 200 and its 15 for me though.

MANY MANY COMPLAINTS about MDB covers on TB!!!!

You seem to have an issue with MDB covers. Care to elaborate on them? I fully admit I had a problem with one of mine, and MDB was willing to not only fix the issue, but make a design change to prevent the problem from taking place again. Although customer communication was somewhat slow, considering this is a very small company, probably run out of the guys house, I couldn't ask for anything more.

Just reporting in...
I've been playing around with a New To Me bass into the Rumble - Yamaha BB415. Love those basses. The neck pickup is like a vintage P on steroids, just the tone I like. This one is a beater, which is just the kind i like because I can mangle it without guilt. Plays dreamily. So I've been playing that bass through (the usual) 500 head and two 112 cabs, but tonight I dragged out the "old" 500 combo. Holy Smack, that combination sounds great. Gonna use the combo more often.

Hello guys and pals,
count me in the club. I'm the new owner of a brand new Rumble 200 combo.
My trusty BG250 died a week ago and I was looking for a head to couple to the BG250 cab. I tried the Rumble 200 combo and really liked what I heard. Volumewise it seems to be roughly in the same camp. And I never pushed my BG250 volume more than half. So it's like the Rumble 200 will be enough for my needs.
What decided me to buy it is that a guitarist entered the test room to try a Les Paul with a Tube Marshall Combo. So I asked if we could play a bit together to let me hear how the Rumble 200 tone would react with heavy guitar. And I have to say I was really pleased. The low end is tight which I like a lot.
I am not yet fond of the overdrive circuit, but I tried it quickly. And I am a bit spoiled by my pedal borad on which I have all I need from light grit to heavy fuzz.
I will not have the opportunity to test my new combo with my band before a few days... I feel impatient.

I still have the BG250 cab which is a 15" in a box roughly the same volume as the Rumble 200. The speaker is rated 4 Ohms so I can't couple it to the Rumble 200.
Anybody knows which speaker is used in the Rumble 200 or what equivalent is supplied by Eminence ? It could be a cheap solution for me to get a second cab to plug to my combo just by replacing the speaker of the BG250 and adjusting the tuning if needed.
