Fender Rumble Club

When I was looking for a head to go with the Custom Shop Rumble cabs, I noticed that the only option at the outlet sites was black.. That is what put me on the hunt for the Blonde.. and lucky that I found a SB 300 blonde at the right price!

I just checked out Fender.com and Blonde & Oxblood is no longer an option in their Bassman Pro line. I guess it just wasn't selling well enough. :(

Just curious about 99z3's blonde rumble stack (subs). To me, these seems rare. I didn't know rumbles of any kind existed in 95-97 let alone subs. If these were still in production and sounded killer with the brown face fenderbassman/blonde and oxblood, it would seem to be a awesome rig by todays standards. Looks alone is cool-but tone with all three? I'd bet they'd sell.

P.S. a matching head?

The top cab is full range basically and the bottom one is a sub.. the top cab has a horn in it with a three way switch (Off, Normal, High) I can also tell you that they are solidly built! I am with you, this is the first I had ever seen anything like these too and let alone a 410 sub cab!

P.S. a matching head?
It did have one, but the guy sold it on evilbay!

Yes, the very first Fender Rumble was a Fender Custom Shop offering consisting of a 300 watt all tube head designed by Bruce Zinky with a Bill Hughes (he designed the SVT for ampeg in 1969) power section. It garnered the nickname of 'The Hibachi' because it got so hot you could cook on it. The rig came with a pair of 410 cabinets one of which was a dedicated sub-woofer. It was $3,000+ .

I bought a lightly used Rumble 40 a couple weeks ago to use as my home practice amp. It sounds very good with no effects through the speaker and headphones, but when I engage my dirt pedals it sounds very fizzy, in a not-so-nice way. The fuzz sounds especially bad.
Is this just a problem for this model, or would I be better off with a 100 or 200 and the deeper tone they create?

I don't think so. I just hooked up my eden WTDI preamp eq/di> to markbass compressore for sweetness thru the r40. May check your pedal or cables?

It's definitely not pedals or cables. I have to turn the filter on my duality all the way down to make it sound close to bearable. It doesn't like any dirt, not even running a Big Muff straight in on it's own. Even though it's a totally different beast, the SVT loves my chain.

I've been told that Bill Hughes left ampeg because he didn't like where the company was headed. How true this is I do not know. I do know that he ended up at F.M.I.C. as chief engineer and is now retired.

As far as Hughes & Kettner is concerned, they are fictional charcters made up by founding brothers Hans and Lothar Stamer.

Not every amp type is going to handle pedals the same, so adjusting settings on the pedals is going to happen if you switch between a Fender and an Ampeg. I used to run a decent sized pedal board back in the 90's, and whenever I bought a new amp I would have to adjust my pedal settings for the new amp. Also, check your amp settings. If your pedals are pushing a hot signal through the amp, you might need to back off on your Gain.
