Fender Rumble Club

The MDB covers look good, fit perfect, have nice detailing, and the price is right.

There is one negative: Apparently the owner is a chain smoker. I noticed the smell on my cover when I got my test cover (Rumble 40) but when I got 4 large covers on Friday, it was overwhelming. Absolutely gross smelling. I've had them hanging out on the clothesline for 3 days and the stink is starting to dissipate.
I have (3) MDB covers - has anybody tried to wash or clean them? [dust].

Having been a heavy smoker for over 43 years, I am very sensitive to tobacco and marijuana smoke. Never smoked opium. My MDB covers never smelled like smoke of any kind. The Fabric does indeed have a slight odor that dissipates in time, but nothing obnoxious.

Mine reek.

It's not subtle.

Just what is wrong with a machine shop? You middle class smoke free folks really need to get a grip on reality.

Machine shop is OK by me.

I've worked as a sailmaker and we've made lots of covers and awnings (and sails) using the same and similar cloth.
Nothing has stunk up my entire living room like this last shipment.

HOWEVER...
The cloth I've used has been either European- or USA-made. I have become increasingly aware of weird plastic and rubber products out of China. I've noticed it on made-in-China products like instrument stand padding. The waterproof coating on the inside surface of MDB covers might be the source of the stench.

I can't tell if Chinese plastic and rubber smells like tobacco because of the unregulated carcinogenic materials they use or if everyone in the factories smoke. I think we're all familiar with what a huge impact smoking has with Chinese.

I am not aware of any of that. Why does smoking have any impact at all?

Just to clarify myself- I love and missed the smell of a machineshop and I know the smell anywhere. I was surprised when my strap had that smell. And I do look forward to my union machineshop smelling pension check every month for life. [ tax-free] :)

Oh Please! Smoking tobacco is wonderful!

I wasn't sure if our wonderful Linnin was being serious or not, I feel bad that Scott bowed out. I smoked three packs a day until 1981, then finally able to kick it....best thing I ever did. No offense to smokers, but I can't be around smoke any more......have bought a couple amps that smelled horribly, and had to get rid of them. Where the "machine shop" deal came from, don't know. I was a GE machinist for 30 years, didn't mind that smell at all....but cigarettes, yeow!! Was so glad when it became illegal to smoke in NY bars.
Folks, lets not get into a pissing match, but for those of us who have quit smoking, please don't hold it against us....it is a horrible habit, and it is so damn hard to keep away from it once we quit. If you want to smoke, fine......but don't get pissed at those of us who have quit!

Well, I FINALLY got a chance to play my Rumbles full blast with a band yesterday. Thankfully I brought both the 40 and 100 just in case. Tried the 100 alone and it just wasn't enough! So I went from 100's effects send into 40's input and stacked them.

The room we setup in was a meeting room of sorts with a row of tables down the middle and chairs lining the walls. Very few plugins. So I was a little farther away from everyone. And due to furniture and plugin spacing my amps were out away from the wall pointing at the drummer with nothing behind the amps. I was essentially in the middle of the room. I'm really hoping that's why, but the drummer kept wanting me to turn up! I could hear myself fine from 5-10 feet away and throughout rest of room, but it definitely could have been bassier and louder. And most of my sound was coming from the 40 sitting on top of the 100.

Side note:evidently our rumbles have a limiter light! I noticed when I would turn up too much the overdrive would flicker. I kept it down so this wasn't going off when I played.

We will probably play again next weekend and I'm going to bring extension cords/power strips so I can move where I want. I'm really hoping if I move my amps in front of a wall or in a corner it will help my volume.

Any other suggestions from people using the 100 with full bands?
