Fender Rumble Club

I had one grandfather that witnessed the bombing of Pearl Harbor (he was former Army, working as a civilian pipefitter in the Navy Yard at Pearl). My other grandfather was at the landing of Iwo Jima as a Marine. My father was also a Marine, 2 tours in Viet Nam, purple heart recipient. I went Coast Guard, nothing spectacular happened with me, not a war hero at all. My utmost respect goes to all who serve, and my eternal gratefulness for those who gave everything for the freedoms I enjoy. Happy Memorial Day!
Amen Brother!

I do, and I have have a good basic grasp of the history of Fender Bass Amps. I know where to start and where to end. I am living on a combination of: Social Security; a very small monthly Veteran's pension, and $41 SNAP (food stamps)/mo. That all adds up to right at $1,000 per month. I have been approved for a subsidized apartment and am on the waiting list. Then I will be living in a Socialized Paradise! ;) Da Comrade!
But the truth of the matter is that without these social programs I would be just another homeless Vet of which there are many.
Sorry to hear of your straitened means, but glad to hear that there are still programs in the US that help at least to some extent. As a Scandinavian, I find it disgraceful that anyone, particularily a Vet, should have to get by on so little. Congrats on getting on that waiting list.

Good thing Rumbles are affordable, and allow us all to sound great, even on a tight budget!

Thank you for your kind thoughts sir!

It is sad that there is no true history of just Fender Bass Amps available. Just bits and pieces here and there, and not very accurate bits & pieces at that. If I had the where-with-all to travel; photograph, and interview, I would write and publish it myself.
It's a good idea, and maybe you don't need as much wherewithal as you might think. Interviews can be done via e-mail or Skype, and you could self-publish with print-on-demand on Amazon. My wife did in fact publish a book in just this way, and it didn't cost her a dime.

Another way of doing it would be to make it a Rumble Club project. How cool would that be!

Barnes & Noble has/had? A way to publish for free too, Pub-It I think it was called. I seen a ton of people doing that for the Nook. However, it was being abused, they would take well known old books and re publish it under their name and collect a fee when you bought it on the Nook. I think there was a big stink about it.

I think if Linnin wanted to pursue it, I don't think it would be an issue if we all pitched in with help or some coin to make it happen. I'd love to read it myself. The hard part I think would be getting the Photo's together.

Thank You and yes taking the time and expense to travel and get the photos together. Going to Fullerton and Corona. Would also need face-to-face interviews with Dave Lewis, and Jay Piccirillo. I am actually a passably good photographer, just lousy at computer work post processing. I'd also need a good editor. Grammar is not my forte. I think it could be completed in a year's time.

You could do a Kickstarter project. I'm sure many of us would be happy to chip in.

I started this thread last year on the history of Fender Strings. It's more than a bit scattered as I wrote it as I was researching. I tried to interest @tombowlus in it as an article for his magazine but nothing came of it as he would need to do a very serious editing job to sew it all together to include some rewriting, but it is still viable piece.

So Rumble guys, hope someone has some ideas. Long story short a bassist blew a speaker in my Fender Pro410SL cab. I don't know if it is worth fixing as a new driver would be $150. Now I really like that cab, but started looking at other cabs to maybe replace it with. I have 2 Berg cabs, but no way are they going to a jam. So the rumble gear has recieved so much attention I thought I'd give them a try. Went to a local store, plugged my American Deluxe Zone bass in to the 500 watt 210 version, no sound, just a scratching noise when I turned the volume control on the amp. We checked the batteries in my bass, they were fine changed the cable, same result. Pulled a Fender Zone bass off the wall, worked fine. A week later stopped at another store tried the same thing. Same result. Any idea why my bass won't work through this amp? I was really only interested in a pair of rumble cabs, but the 500 watt 210 combo seemed price wise to be a good idea. Man I have no clue.

Bass gremlin. Put a little boric acid under the pickup or pickguard, usually kills the bugger's.

Fender made the American Deluxe Zone only for a couple years around 2002 to 2006 or thereabouts. Fender was getting there but kicked by a lot of the boutique brands and this was what they came up with to try and compete. Beautifully made, beautiful wood. Not a lot of them around, but I really love mine. Has a three band 18 volt pre with two humbuckers. If you do a google search the full specs are easy to find.
