Fender Rumble Club

Fender has announced a new Bassman 800 amplifier at Summer NAMM in Nashville.
"
Bassman 800 Amp: Launching August 2016

Designed for the ultimate bass-playing experience, the Bassman 800 offers two versatile channels and extreme Fender tube tones, while mating perfectly with Fender Bassman Pro Neo speaker cabinets. The foundation of the Bassman 800’s tone is the two-channel tube preamp, which utilizes a pair of premium 12AX7 tubes. The lightweight (17-lb), 800-watt hybrid amp also includes Vintage and Overdrive preamp channels, XLR line output, tuner output, an effects loop and a footswitch for hands-free channel switching."

Perhaps a rumble 800 may very well be a future possibility, assuming the 800 is a class D power section.

Interestingly, this is already out on the Thomann web site, noticed it this morning:

Well now... Bassman 800... I'd like to know what it is rated at 8ohms... 800 may be too much on tap. But it may be exactly what I should have in reserve too. Rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
I can't imagine ever needing that much power. Ever. The 8 ohms rating is most likely a conservative 600 watts. The Rumble 500 already has more power and potential SPL than the ampeg PF 800. The Bassman 800 should easily out perform the Mesa subway 800 or the new Genzler 800.

Ahh romulan ale!
My '79 Fender Studio Bass had a six pack of 6L6GC's and an ultra-linear power transformer. One of the very best, if not the very best bass amp I've ever heard and had the pleasure to own.

Back on the topic of Craigslist, what does everyone think of this?

Posted in musicians and not for sale, STUPID high prices. And "we need them for this gig, come to gig to get it"

Delusional? Or pure promotional genius?

I had replied to the affinity tele one with "don't they cost less than that new?" And got a reply that they don't come with a case, and I should go to guitar fetish or wherever else I wanted to spend my money "it's you're money".

I composed a few long replies, then decided against it.

I bet he sells them!
Think of a first-time instrument buyer and seeing those shiny new instruments.
"It's on Craigslist so it's got to be a good deal, right?"

If they don't sell for a profit, they will take them back to GC for a refund within 30 days, right? I know an unscrupulous consumer who did a photography gig with new Canon DSLR from Costco, photographed the gig for a week, then returned the gear for a full refund the following week. I pointed out that it was taking unfair advantage and their response was simply, "Well... they took it back..."

Well I couldn't resist checking out the bands Facebook page. Either they are avid fender fanboys (fender logo on their show flyers etc), or have some other endorsement or affiliation. One of the guys is playing a squier in every pic, and the blue affinity was shown at a show from earlier in the year, definitely not in the 30 day return range.

I think he was just being creative and promoting his gig, and I didn't stumble across it while looking at gear, I stumbled across it looking for bands, he put them in the musicians section.

Why am I trying to anylize this? There are just so many strange things about it! I mean, offering to sign it even!!! Like there is rock star status for old guy surf cover bands in southern California?

Still, it is a free show, I might even go for ***** and giggles, just to see if a sucker sycophant shows up with $280 for a used affinity. The bass player is playing one of those micro terror heads with a small orange cab, probably 112, maybe 110. Looks like black face guitar amps. He should get a rumble 200 for feng shui, match the guitars cosmetic wise.

Now if he had the guitars listed for fair prices, I probably would never have clicked on them. And now I am even considering going to the show.

Genius promotion!

Larry, when you test the R200, get it off the floor at least a couple of inches (or 5 cm, I guess, in CR) and be sitting so you are closer to being in the speaker's radiation pattern. You want to hear what the audience will be hearing, not blasting music at your shins.

I actually plan to put it on top of another amp but thanks a lot for the advice! I learn that with my AmpWedge (goo.gl/VL6mcx) and how it changed from being on the floor, now I have amp stand and things are much better, that is why I know I need to raise it to test.
