Fender Rumble Club

Yeah, I agree, the cabinet is almost certainly a 200 or 500.
You can also tell by estimating the width of the protective corners compared to the width of the cabinet.
Did the GC dude say the back of the cabinet says Rumble 100 and it is (or looks) stock?

BTW: the 100 amp won't fit into the 200 or 500 cabinet out of the box and look factory finished as it is smaller.

Anyway, let's wait and see what you will get!
He said it says 100 on the cab. I saved a copy of the and my order. If it ain't right, I think I will demand a 100 v3for the price I paid.

Right, combo's need the dummy plug to remove the speaker from the equation, heads do not need the dummy plug but it won't hurt anything if you do use it.

Next question, "Will the effects send of the 200/500 accept TS plugs for running into a return on another amp (Orange TB1000) that is only TS"?

Thanks

I asked this a few pages ago but didn't get a response so I will ask again. Does any one know if the effects send on the 200/500 works with both TRS and TS plugs even if the TS out has a lower output?

Thanks

Haven't tried that, but usually TRS jacks can be used in place of TS jacks. What do you mean by lower output? Cables don't have output. They are just connectors. The do have impedance, but any difference there would be determined by wire gauge.

Fender explicit supports this with their Bassman line and I have tested it with Rumbles.

This illustration pretty much says it all:
twinned-rumble-500-v3_back.jpg

The EFFECTS LOOP is post all user controls.
All the knobs and switches on the "RETURN" amp are bypassed and all tone, gain, volume, etc. controls are via the "SEND" amp.

On a Rumble 500 combo, the results would be 4 x 10" speakers and a total of 700 watts available. You could also connect extension cabs in the normal way and get, for example, 8 x 10" speakers driven by 1,000 watts.

Plugging anything into FX RETURN disconnects the pre-amp and all its controls from the power section (per the little red box below)

Here's the full block diagram for the Rumble v3 from the 40 through the 500, both head-only and combo:

________

edit: Oops! I misread the original question. To use a combo as a pre-amp-only, hook it up using this guide and then plug a do-nothing plug into FX RETURN.

It was difficult to answer your question because your actual question was deeply buried in your proposed solution. In fact, you never really ask what you intended. I THINK you were asking, "Can a Rumble v3 combo be used as a pre-amp only?" The answer is: "Yes." It can also be modded -- via the eric_B mod -- to function as an amp only or a cab only.

So this is not showing a TRS 1/4" Jack on the send and return?

Thanks

Outputs and inputs that can use both TRS and TS frequently have different outputs from the same jack. 0dB for TRS and -10dB for TS.

Thanks

Another example would be if I plug a TS 1/4" plug into the effects send on my Mackie board, I get about -10 db unbalanced signal to whatever return I plug that into. If I plug a 1/4" TRS plug into the same output on the Mackie, I get a 0db (or +4dB, I forget which) balanced signal to whatever return I plug that into.

So I guess I will change my question to "which one or both output levels, or better yet, unbalanced or balanced, TS or TRS, or any combination of both, does the effects out and in of the Rumble 200/500 operate?

Thank you

I call shenanigans!

Hi to all,
need some help to choose right amp and cabs.
1. Rumble 500 combo and then v3 210 down the road
2. older Rumble 350 head plus v3 210 and one more v3 210 later, for vertical stack (cost about the same, head with one cab)
3. same as #2 but with v3 115, one now and one later

Do I go wrong with older 350 head? At the moment it's on sale, I can get two for one Rumble 500 head.
And also, can somebody explain difference between one 115 and two of them, one on another? What I was heard is that when use two fifteens it has much more clarity than one, and great dispersion.

Cheers to all rumblers!

Cheers to you friend @parker 71 and Serbia!
No, nothing wrong with a Rumble 350 head at all. That is what I use for gigs.
Yes, a pair of Rumble 115's will move tons of air and give you gobs of dispersion, especially in the all important low mids where the serious punch resides.

How big a venue are you going to play? That will tell you how big a rig you need.

For small bars; house parties, and jams a Fender Rumble 200 combo is plenty good.

First of all, sorry for double post, I hope that somebody can fix it cause I can't from phone (till tomorrow).
Well, gigs are for between 100 and 200 people, not always with FOH. I think that I can go with Rumble 500 combo alone, but I'm just under impression that v3 115 is something special (and I go from zero in this case and can chose now but not later when I get something). At the moment I play through an old Roland SCB but it is not strong enough, bass is Ibanez SR 400

@Linin from Liningrad :) , thanks for welcome and advice, I hoped that you come in and help

There are two reasons that I still believe that a TRS is the better connection although either one will work.

1. See the quote from Scott below. This shows TRS Balanced (mono, not stereo) connections on the block diagram. It took a few minutes to find a good explanation of that connection. It can be seen in the article at [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. See photo insert. Scroll down article until you see the diagram in the attached image. This article does a good job of describing the benefits of using a TRS cable in this curcuit if the jack you are going to accepts a balanced TRS plug (like a power amp input). If the input or return jack you are going to does not accept a TRS plug simply use a TS cable to make the connection.

Look at this part of the Block Diagram again:
effects_loop.png

The signal continues to the power-amp section unless the circuit is broken at the little red square by the "tip" of a TRS plug in the FX RETURN jack.

2. I did not notice it before, and my appologies to all, but see the second attached to see the specs from the manual. It says that both the effects loop and the line out are "Balanced."

Thanks Again,

Oh, they are special indeed! They may very well be the best single 15" woofer cabinets ever invented by mankind.

I am your ever faithful Fender Rumble Evangelist. One day they shall name a GREAT city after me, and they shall call it Linningrad!

Okay, the order is placed. I had the guy go look directly at the amp and describe it. He said it is definitely a Rumble 100. He claims the early v3 models have a 15" speaker. It is definitely not the older model. Delivery expected in 4 to 7 days. I'll post back when it arrives.
I believe that is a Rumble 100 v3 based on the size of it compared to the amp next to it. It will undoubtedly have a 12 inch speaker when you get it!! Still a great amp.
