Different strokes for different folks. I agonized a long time on whether to add the 2x10 or the 1x15. Now I know this is stupid OCD, but I went with the 2x10 partly because the cab size is the same as the 500c. I know if I turned the 500c on its side, it would match, but then I'd have to move the Fender logo.
I once had a 2x10/1x15 rig that I really liked, so it was a hard decision. I wish I'd had the opportunity to try both configurations side by side. But, the 4 10s sound really good. If you like 10s, go for it. I doubt you will be disappointed.
Happy 500C owner too. I think it is personal taste that makes people prefer the 10s, 12s or 15s.

Any Fender Rumble combination = 21 year old single malt scotch and a Cuban Cohiba.
Well after this weekend i might be able to try a 500 combo and the matching extension cab.. we'll see how it goes..
My sense was that more people here voted for 10" speakers for an extension cab, especially when one's combo had 10" speakers.
Stated another way: my take was that the "old" advice was have a cab with 10's and a cab with a 15 and that the "new" trend was towards all 10's. But again, that is just what I have sensed from reading lots of advice and chatting with old timers and new timers. As always, one's ears and one's needs should steer one's decisions.
I say get one of each!!

I love my Rumble 500c with its two 10"s. And let's not forget the 40, with one of the sweetest 10"s you'll ever hear
Hey, this made me think about this: I own the PA we used with my last band, including 2 HK Audio 18" active subs (and 2 12" tops).If only Fender made a 18'' Rumble sub; Goodbye OD, hello b-strings and reggae boys... Well maybe not say goodbye to OD 'cause we'd still find a way to justify using them (and maybe rightly so). Can you imagine tone from 'the bottom depths of hell?
Why not run the XLR out of my 500C through the mixer into those bad boys? Should be cool for home practicing
why didn't I think of this until now Every time I think I am ready to expand my bass amp/cab horizons, you go and throw these superlatives around, and get me scouring CL and ebay for Rumble heads... And now you got me jonesing for a stogie too!! I have a few cuban cohiba's left (from a layover in Canada when returning from deployment) but no 21 year old to go with it. The closest I got is a 16 yr old Lagavulin--I just can't justify any more than that...
Ah - but WHICH single malt?That's the question.
Come to think of it, I do have a bottle of Johnny Blue that I sip on with my Bro-in-law when he is in town. Not single malt, but still damn tasty!
I enjoy PUNCH maduro London Club petite coronas with Evan Williams 10 year old Single Barrel. Those little PUNCH pack a BIG flavor and pair well with almost any traditional rye recipe bourbon. This year's release of 2007 Evan Williams is especially tasty, and oh yeah buy some more Fender Rumbles

You can always XLR out of your Rumble and into the powered sub of your choosing. The 1800 watt EV ETX-18SP is only $1,500. And hey, it only weighs 130 pounds!

I already liked you, Linnin but this post makes me realize your taste and wisdom extends to other areas besides amplification. Evan Williams is a knockout and is stunningly good for its modest price. It beats or equals whiskies that are 3 or 4 times the cost.
