Ever hear of the Latin phrase caveat emptor which means 'let the buyer beware'? You bought a dead amp. Didn't you test it out first?Any ideas of what the cause may be?

You're welcome. I hope you've learned a valuable lesson that will serve you well.Awesome thanks for contributing to my question.
Most Craigslist transactions are 'cash & carry'. Bought as is where is no returns and no refunds.I think I'd just return it to the seller.

Legit question. Unless you got a major steal of a deal, I think I'd just return it to the seller.
Legit question? Really? How so? I posted my question here thinking maybe someone had a similar experience.
His comment did absolutely nothing in regards to being helpful.
I hope if he ever has an issue with a piece of gear and posts a genuine question asking for help, he is offered a possible solution rather than some kind of snarky comment or lecture.
I plan on taking the combo to a friend, hopefully he'll be able to help me. I asked the seller for a refund but of course he refused.
Everyone's diffferent I guess. If I had been the seller and there was an issue, I would had refunded the cash without a problem.
Wish me luck![]()
I hope you do get it sorted out. I have no answers for you other than that I had bought a new 500 head that worked fine the first 2 days and then all of a sudden, the OD just stopped. Lit up, but no sound. So I swapped it for another.
However, I dont think Linnin was being overly snarky. It is a valid question if you tried it before you bought it. I'm sure a follow up question would be along the lines of "How did it sound then? Did it appear to have any issues?"
Because if it had some kind of symptoms then, we would have a better chance of pointing you in the right direction. As of now, it could be any number of things, but it does seem like you may have been sold dud.
Get it to a Fender Authorized Service Center. Only they can get the parts you need. If it's the power amp (and it sounds like it is), be prepared to pay large $$$ if you do not have a copy of the original sales receipt. Whenever you buy used always go through an Authorized Fender Dealer. Yes, you'll pay a bit more, but you'll be able to try it out first before you buy and your sales receipt will transfer the remainder of the very valuable Fender Five Year Warranty. Live and Learn.I just want to get it fixed
Only a $40 difference and you can still make a lower offer, say $300 even. It's a no brainer. Always go with the Authorized Fender Dealer. That sales receipt can be nearly priceless if a repair should be needed.OK, used rumble 200 on craigslist for $280 or a used rumble 200 from GS for $320 + tax? After map34157 experience I'm thinking GC. Hope its an easy fix map34157.

Rumbles go quick! Even two years after the V3's first came out. A fellow Rumble Club member decided to sell his 200 combo and buy a 500 combo. I pounced and messaged him and snagged it the very same evening. While not a Fender Authorized Dealer, it was a man I knew I could trust. Plus he trusted me to send him a personal check. No, I was not able to fly up and check it out first. Again, a fellow Rumble Club member I could and did and still do trust. Years of experience and street sense told me it was OK. If I got burnt, it was all my fault and I was willing to take that risk.......and its gone. Went back to my GC cart and not available.![]()
Just try it out first. If he listed it it at $280, he'll take $250
It's worth checking it out. Odds are there's no problem, there's really very few issues with these amps.
Well it looks like the seller found me a Fender Certified Tech who will do a free diagnostic on it. I'm taking it on Monday.
He said he feels terrible about the whole situation and will help in any way he can. We'll see how this turns out. I'm optimistic.
