I was just talking about my OLP as having no preamp. For the sub I was just reiterating that the Duncan stingray preamp would work. Many people in the post SBMM world are not aware of the specific EBMM sterling model, so I try to educate. And that was the issue in the Duncan info.@ubernator the SUB I have came with an active preamp, so the battery compartment was already there.
To be honest, I'm thinking of doing that again. the bass was bought for less that $200 and the pickup with the preamp was found for less that $200 as well. little elbow grease and under $400, had a hell of gigging machine. My guitar player now has it and is moonlighting as a bassplayer on the side. He loves it and just this past weekend , he painted the headstock to match the body. (got the bass with logo already sanded off)
He got some nitro based paint in a spray can from Reverb and used it. Came out well, not 100% match color wise, but close enough for this worthy beater bass.
There is actually a low priced sub on CL now that is bugging me,.because I am about to pick up the peavey milestone that was on hold at GC. Now I want both! The price is low, the color and condition are mint, but the ad is 9 days old, it is probably gone anyway.
