Fender Rumble Club

Hi, im on the look for an extension cab for my rumble 500 combo, I do think the combo in general is maybe just a tiny bit boomy, and i really love 12"speakers so im thinking about getting the 112 cabinet, also cause its light and transportable, so how would those of you with the experience of this cab best describe it soundwise? How will it sound compared too just the combo alone ??

Will I get a little more midrange punch and growl and more audible treble due too 2 horns(1 in combo and 1 in cab) + some more volume but without too much added boomyness?

Recycle those old strings! That high grade steel is too good to just go to the dump, or sit around in drawer. D'Addario has a new recycling program. Also many music stores are serving as collection points for the program. It's a good and easy thing to do.
Totally, I was thinking of taking the ones that won't rejuvenate to a recycling center for a few bucks, there is one near me.

But the chromes, they were probably used for a month or 2 tops, they will be put on another bass for sure.

Guitar strings I threw away, but rarely ever threw a bass string away. I'm also a hoarder type though, doh!

Yeah Baby! Did Billy Joel give you your first bass? A 1969 Precision? Really?

Man that sounded good for just jamming by himself. I always thought Dirnt was either underrated or, at least, under appreciated.
He put solid groove into punk music. And he's got some seriously good chops!

Now I have to google the billy Joel relationship, lol

Edit: Or did he actually say "Billie Joe", as in Green Day's lead singer? Seems more likely, lol
Billie Joe Armstrong, relative of Tim Armstrong of rancid and op ivy, who is the guitar singer of green day, apparently seriously damaged mikes Gibson grabber (or ripper?) Bass, and bought him the p bass as a reparation. It was his first p bass, but not his first bass

You have the option of turning the horns off you know :). And the cabs give a -6db option for the horn as well.

The 112 will add punchy mids without being boomy, and also reinforces the lows and you will probably like it. I use one under my 200 combo, and there are other members using them in systems using 500 head or 500 combo. I think @Bodeanly uses the 112 and 500 combo.

It is cool in its compactness

I would first determine the position of your amp (where it is placed in whatever room you're playing in, maybe try getting it up and off of the floor) and EQ it from there. I always have my low knob around 10 o'clock, then use the other EQ knobs to adjust for whatever room we're in. As @ubernator said, I use the 500 with the 112, but I added the 112 for volume, not for tone. I always have my horns/ tweeters off. If you believe the 500 is too boomy, adding an additional cab may not be the solution you're looking for. Good luck!

Too boomy=, turn the bass down a tad, boost low mid a tad to compensate. And don't use the vintage mode. The 112 would probably be a good volume boosting "amp stand" that won't add too much mud to the mix. It adds volume to my 200, and does not make it boomy. My interpretation of the post makes me think the 112 would be the best bet, however @Bodeanly is right, just plugging in a 112 will not take away boominess from the combos speakers. Eq eq eq, and no vintage button, I seem to use bright most of the time because the rumble voice is low heavy. I frequently have the bass knob below noon.

I heartily agree with ubernator's whole post but this ^^^ bears repeating. People are also solving the Rumble line's inherent boom with fill material and plugging ports but EQ is free and easy.
I guess a dearth of knowledge of equalization leads to a fear of subtractive EQ settings. Critical listening is as much an art as the proper and inspired playing of an instrument. Listen -> Interpret (not just analyze) -> Adjust. Accurate discernment can be learned as it's not complete mysticism. Plus there are physical adjustments such as decoupling from the floor, and moving the amp & speakers to different locations to alleviate Fletcher Munson effect.

You will need a megawatt power supply and a 2,000 outlet power-strip.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could?
But as soon as you plug into FX RETURN, you disconnect from the pre-amp. And that's where the FX SEND jack is -- at the tail end of the pre-amp.
See where I drew the little red rectangle around the disconnect switch on the FX RETURN jack?

As soon as something gets plugged into FX RETURN, that is the end of the chain.

If you're handy with a soldering iron, don't mind voiding your warranty, and are clever enough to not create a feedback loop or destroy your pre-amp, you could modify the amp to do the infinity chain boogaloo. Start by swapping out the FX RETURN jack for a regular unswitched jack like the FX SEND and insert a SPDT switch in the correct spots.
Get your reality out of my daydream, buzzkilker. :***:
