Fender Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800

I have a question regarding in ear monitors. I have no experience and just beginning to do my DD. I'd like to be able to hear my bass while playing at rehearsal and the occasional gig, while reducing the noise. (I usually wear foamies). At rehearsal they have a Rumble 500 which I play with my X Vive Wireless transmitter and receiver. They don't run the bass through the board. We are playing a new location. I will be bringing my Stage 800 and 210 Cab.
It seems I would be able to run an X Vive In Ear Monitor from the 800 via XLR Post. Theoretically this would let me stay wireless and give me the in ear monitor of my own signal. I know this is in a vacuum meaning no other wifi or bluetooth issues or competition for bandwidth. I am the only band member that is wireless.
This will be my test setup and budget for the moment. Any pros or cons? Thoughts on (not) having the entire mix? TIA

Hmmmm, ... Do you have problems hearing your Stage onstage, Zappy? With the full 800 watts available, even wearing foamies, I have a hard time understanding the need for IEM of your bass signal (unless you just really love the various tones that much, like I do). If you were using a Studio 40 it would be more understandable, if your band is that loud.

From my intermittent experience with IEM for click-track timing, it can be very tricky to hear the other instruments, which I very much prefer. (I absolutely despised using a click-track for the whole band! Give it to the drummer only, if it's really that necessary!) If your band does song dynamics you really wanna listen to them for that. So, just beware of isolating yourself too much.

Other'n that, it's like most musical stuff, subject to personal preferences and details of implementation. So, give it a whirl and see how it works for you.

... the creative power and possibilities afforded by modelling amps, ... UK duo Royal Blood. ..., a duo, two people. Drums, Fender bass, ... assortment of Fender (and other) modelling amps. ... A design is only perfect when nothing else can be removed. I think these guys really understand ...

I see what I think you mean, Chick! Really massive sound for just 2 guys alright. And I see a lotta Fender, similar to my Jaguar and Starcaster basses and my Bassman 500.

But, when I google "Royal Blood gear" I only see Fender Super Bassman & Fender SuperSonic guitar amps and a lotta pedals. Where do you see modeling amps? Perhaps a modeling pedal, or two, which he won't talk about? o_O

He probably could get his sound with a Rumble Stage 800, or two, and some cabs. But they're not visible in his pix or mentioned in interviews. :bored:

I distinctly recall Mike Kerr talking up Line6 gear very early on in the band's life. I'll try to find it. Still a monster sound, all the same. I remember hearing them a few years back, then when I saw the video on YouTube I was like "wait... where's the rest of the band?". I had no idea they were a two piece.

Yes, I did see a reference to Line 6 in their early career, but not what specific gear. He said then Fender offered to help and they jumped at it! If he'd been using Line 6 modeling I'd expect he'd go for Fender modeling, too, though.

Line6 Pretty much put modelling into the mainstream so yes, I would expect that to have been the case.

It's going to be pretty interesting over the next ten years to see how our rigs will develop or even, perhaps, devolve. We live in fertile and imaginative times, and I'm here for every last kilobyte of it.

Rumble Studio 40 with preamp pedal observation:

Looking to use the speaker and cabinet models of my Rumble Studio 40, tonight I plugged my bass in to my newly-acquired GK Plex preamp pedal (which has no cabsim) and sent its SEND to the L (Mono) effects RETURN of the Rumble Studio 40 (nothing else plugged into the amp). The sound was quite good, though I could only test at low volume. Observation: Master Volume control was usable, but changing amps, effects, and cabinets had no effect.

I can also confirm that:

1. If you have something plugged into the Rumble Studio 40 RETURN, but nothing in SEND, then the amp instrument input is muted.

2. Plugging this particular pre-amp pedal into the instrument input (from pedal "OUTPUT", not pedal "SEND") using the Rumble Studio 40 Studio Preamp with flat EQ gives quite good results and of course allows access to the cabinet models and other effects.

Yeah, dr, I remember your previous post here. Would you please post a photo of your Rumble in the Fender Rumble Club thread and join us? Then come back here for Rumble modeling discussions. :D

Yeah, see, you have totally bypassed the pre-amp, where all the modeling takes place, twice by:

A. Nothing plugged in to Studio's input, so no signal going to the pre-amp. Also, ...

B. Plugging anything in to an FX Return, without taking anything from the the FX Send of a loop also just simply bypasses the pre-amp. That's how most FX Loops I've heard of work, they don't somehow blend the pedal from the FX Return with the pre-amp signal.

B.1. In this case you are bypassing the Left (Mono) channel, but maybe not the Right (Stereo) channel. But, you might get something thru from the Right (Stereo) channel if you plug a bass into the Studio's input and select a stereo effect, such as the Stereo Echo Filter or the Stereo Tape Delay, and don't plug anything in to Right (Stereo) FX Return, but it wouldn't be the entire signal, so probably not worth it.
To get the pre-amp signal back you could plug your bass into the Studio's input, then run the Studio's Left (Mono) FX Send to your pedal, then the pedal to the Left (Momo) FX Return. You must use both the Send and Return of the Loop(s) to get both modeling and pedal, that is unless you put the pedal in to the Studio's input, too.

... ...

Bingo! That's one way to use pedals with your Studio. The other way, as mentioned above, is to run the Studio's FX Send(s), at least the Left (Mono) - or both) to the pedal(s), then run the pedal(s) to the FX Return(s), at least the Left (Mono) - or both.

Thanks, dr, for your observations! This confirms that the Studio's FX Loops work the same way as most other amp's loops. Also, like other amps, it's up to you to decide whether you like the sounds of your pedal(s) in the input, or in the loop(s).

I hope my very wordy reply didn't confuse the situation. :roflmao:

I'll get that photo uploaded tonight @G-Dog !

Some stereo FX loop fun to be had it seems, but in this case I was just experimenting to see if I could add the 4 GK amp emulations of the Plex pedal to the Rumble Studio 40 and still use its cabinet models. I now read here that the cabs are processed with the amps and the FX loop comes in just before the XLR outs, so there isn't the option to do what I was trying to do.

Anyway, it sounds fine without any cab model and if needed, the Studio Preamp via instrument input option is there of course to access pre and post effects and the cabs.

Whilst I was experimenting, I also plugged the GK Plex into my NUX MG-30 multiFX and was able to switch off the bass amp block BUT use the cabs and IR loader there (even though the cabs are meant to be similarly wedded to the amps in the NUX MG-30).

I have no idea if doing such things gets you anywhere close to a GK amp and cab (something that would be overkill in my basement) but I'm just looking for some different and interesting low-volume practice tones.

Hmmm, well now, Rumbler #1379! I don’t understand why putting your pedal between your bass and the Studio's input, or connecting your pedal to the Left FX Send and the Left FX Return, doesn't give you access to both systems, like you're looking for.

BTW, have you compared the tones of your GK pedal going direct to the Left FX Return, as you first mentioned, with the tone of the Studio's KGB-800 amp model without the pedal? The KGB-800 amp model is purported to emulate the GK 800RB amp from the 1980s & '90s. Maybe you don’t need the pedal to get the tone you like?

The Studio's KGB-800 is the reason I got the GK Plex pedal - it's my favourite Studio basic tone (though the SWR Redhead is growing on me).

I had the (mis?) fortune of owning a real Super Redhead and believe me when I say, it had the looks of a 70s Corvette, the sound of a Noughties Ferrari, and the reliability of a 90s Range Rover.

Your Rumble is the best place for that wonderfully gifted problem child of an amp.

Thanks for the insight - I had begun to look (just look) at Reverb and ebay for the original... With 90s Range Rover reliability a probability, I shall stick with the model inside my Rumble (the Redhead 2X10 cab sounds great with several amp models, haven't played around with the 4x10 SWR Goliath much yet)).

Some time ago I got myself Rumble LT25 as a bedroom practice amp.
At the time I thought that I will not be recording with it so no DI wasn’t a problem. Times changed and now I am looking for someone who can guide me how to do it.
Is there anyone who tried recording with it? Is it recording via USB?
I appreciate any help.

Howdy, tommy! How's about showing us a photo of your Rumble in the main Rumble Club thread and getting a free membership? This is The Club sub-thread for modeling Rumbles.

Yes, you can record from your LT25 with a USB cable. See page 18 of the Rumble LT25 manual where it talks about that. I did a few quick searches here and didn't find anyone talkinh about that. But here's the Fender LT Tone Support webpage that might help, also.

Try that and let us know how it goes for you. ;)

Thanks G-Dog :) been following Rumble Club and this thread for quite a while, just never posted anything.
My main amp is Rumble 500 V3 combo, LT25 is just for practice.

I have PC. Got ASIO part, forgot about USB gain. Downloaded Reaper, but got lost right there at the beginning of setting it up. I tried to follow some instructions videos on YouTube but somehow all I got was squeaking sound from my computer speakers and nothing that sound like my bass. So I guess I need help with the Reaper.
