Fender signature that MUST be made!!! NOW!!!

if fender did ever re-issue that bass the price would be horrable. if a mexican p-bass is about £380 then my guess on the price of one of those would be about £800

a new one is more like £425 to £500 now!

Ron Wood Sig- 68 Telecaster bass in blonde w/ white or no pickguard.

Mel Schacher Sig - 68 (?) Sunburst Jazz Bass with Block inlays and a big Gibson mudbucker at the neck

I think this one comes up a lot in this sort of thread, but a Troy Sanders P would be cool. The silverburst finish is just great, and I like the double-J pickup in the bridge position and what looks like huge jumbo frets

I can understand having a signature model if the artist wants something unique, like Stu Hamm, or if its based on a specific instrument with unique features, like the Dirnt or the Geddy, which have different neck shapes, specially voiced pickups and/or different hardware that would be a pain to install yourself.

What I cant get with is paying more than the value of a regular bass + parts for cosmetic changes to a stock instrument, like a different color finish and pickguard, and the name on the head. That's ********.

Or you could just get a '62 reissue... he's never done mods to the jazz, correct? Other than that I heard it's been refinished three times.

+1 on the John Entwistle Slab P, don't even need the Entwistle name, just the Slab, I think alot of people would snatch that up.

And how about a Mark Hoppus jazz that he actually uses/used? Maybe like the hot pink model with skull & crossbones inlays, blink-182 & Swedish flag stickers?

Or maybe the jazz from the 2009 reunion tour? Mary Kay white, white pickguard, Marktopus decal, and of course, the blink-182 logo inlays up to the 12th fret. I bet either of those would sell alot more than the models currently offered. But I want Fender to hold off on this until I get Roger Waters P and a Fender VI, okay Fender? Deal?

I am really happy that Fender has been coming out with some great signature basses(and also long due) over the last year(the Harris, Mckagan, Waters etc.)

I understand that this is a little complicated because of all the dealings involved and that the final product should be really marketable in order to make a signature instrument. I think that there are still a lot that MUST be made and that would still be able to sell really well.

Which would YOU like to see and/or would be willing to buy get?

-James Jamerson's Funk machine P bass
Well not too much to say here but it is about time Fender made this, seriously the potential is ridiculous.

-Flea's 60s jazz bass.
Kinda hard to work out, but man that would be great.

-John Deacon's(Queen) P bass. One of the most underrated players ever and he mostly used this one throughout his carreer.

-Phil Lynott P-bass. Mirror pickguard, hard rock end of story

-Tommy Shannon's(Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter and others) Jazz bass.

DeeDee Ramone/Sid vicious P-bass. Talk about an iconic P-bass. I know Sid couldn't play, so yeah maybe DeeDee is better. And while on punk

-Matt Freeman's P bass. Might as well be a holy grail kind of P-bass

-Berry Oakley's Tractor Jazz. Sweet jesus has anyone saw this thing?!? It's purely great!!! The front pickup was replaced with a darkstar pickup(they are called darkstars now, I don't know how they were called back then, all I know that they were made by Hagstrom) and 2(!) jazz pickups at the bridge. Plus it sounded amazing!!!

I want to see Fender get rid of the sigs, I don't get the allure. I'd rather see them conentrate on aboslute top build (CS) at the standard US price point, and they could if they didn't have to figure in the costs of 500 models of each of the same instruments.

At this rate, they're making a sig for anyone who's touched a bass....why???

Why would anyone release a standard P or J as a signature? I mean for example the Roger Waters P-bass can be EASILY recreated without any hassle.

Sig basses, IMO, should have so many differences other than a pickguard change.

The Funk Machine is just a '62 reissue, unless you want it to be reliced, which does not add to appeal and justify the price increase.

A 70's punk bass? Get an MIA Oly White P or MIM Arctic White, and put a black guard. Simple cosmetic change.

After owning this guitar for 29 years + i have had to put it up for auction for financial reasons, this breaks my heart as i have been a lifelong Ramones fan, 1st seeing them in London at the Roundhouse in 1976 and seeing there last gig at the Brixton Accademy in London 1996 and seeing them on god knows how many occations in between the auction happens to be tomorrow in London, i will post up a few photos very soon , Terry

Unless there's something unique about the sig bass in question don't bother. A P Bass is a P Bass and a Jazz Bass is a Jazz Bass.
But seriously, as Sid Vicious sig bass??? When you plug it in, does the amp shut off?
