I'm with you here too. Maybe use the jag body style to get something closer to the original. I couldn't wait so I frankensteined my own.

I took a Squier 51 and a 30" scale bass neck. Filled the tuner holes and redrilled for guitar tuners. Slapped it together and voila! Bootleg Bass VI.

Fender would never do that. THey have to stick to vintage things, they fail at modern things. Maybe an ibanez like that but fender sucks at trying to do that kind of stuff.

After 30 years of trying, I can't get my J's to do what P's do, and vice versa.

I'm not sure I would want them to.

That's why I have several of both.

This is why I prefer MM and G&L to Fender/Squier. Much more versatile axes.

I do love my EBMM but sometimes it just can't beat the feel for my olympic(pbass) and my dirnt. sound wise but mostly the neck/body feel.
