The pallidino CS model sucks compared to the 59 cs model. A fiesta red/maple dirnt wouldn't be that bad. A hoppus with a pre-amp and a miller neck would be sweet. And I don't know how to combine jaco and pete... but I'm thinking it would suck.

I know you were joking but I'm just thinking

Only j I would ever own (other than the MIM sage green I want) is the 70's ri in black. The sunburst doesn't have enough red in it for me and I think this bass does the geddy tone better than the geddy.

But p's are cool... way cool!

And thus we have the P/J... Built just for me. The dudes at fender were all like "man there is going to be a kid named tommy and he'll like pbasses but just sometimes (rarely) his pbasses can't get the tone he wants. So we should make a pbass with a j bridge pup and that bass will own." Thus, the Jazz bass special was born!

I'm all for a serious "Mark Hoppus"-like bass. MIM or MIA

Leave the artist-signature out of it and market it as a serious original bass. (No offense to the current signature.)


J body, P pickup, P neck, sunburst, tort pickguard and maple fretboard or white pickguard and rosewood fretboard, matching headstock.

Wow,I better not play a 59 cs model then.I already ruined a good pair of drawers when I played the Pallidino. :atoz:


The Wentz/Jaco would be a wentz body with fretless so Wentz would actually pay attention to his playing to be in tune.Not that you'd really notice with FOB's music,but at least he would stop jumping around like a detoxifying monkey.

I would like to see a Fender Bass with a single humbucker in bridge position. A competitor for a classic Stingray.

But I guess Fender won't swim in those waters.

Still, I think a J bass with a MM at the bridge would have a lot of fans. (Like what I asked for in the photoshop thread.)
I know I would prefer it over a Stingray.

Well, if I was a builder offering traditional basses, this kind of bass would definately in the range.

I remember playing a Big Block once. I was not shopping for a bass, I went to a music store with the two guitarists from a hardrock band I was in.
I don't remember my impressions of it becaus it was 6 years ago... so that's good news. If I remembered something it would have probably something bad.

The guitarists were real gear snobs. They were pushing me to buy an expensive Stingray. I have nothing against Stingrays, but their motivations were for image reasons.
Their ideal bassist would play a Stingray, because that was a popular bass back then around here... by many famous Belgian (famous in Belgium) bassists. (Axl Peleman for example)

They even offered to ship in, as I was not so wealthy as them. They even wanted to buy the bass among themselves to have that bass as "property of the band".
I so refused that and talked them out of it.

They might be snobs, but they were and still are good friends of mine and we had a lot of great gigs and great times hanging out in bars.


Stingray owners: I have nothing against that bass, I don't think it's crappy. But it's not my cup of tea.
And I guess noone would like to be pushed around like this.

I often think of getting a jazz(maybe a 5er), and putting a MM in the 'Ray position, and an active pre too.
