Fender neck width is 2.5. When asian makers convert to metric, the neck pocket usually ends up bigger. (Thats the case with squier anyway.) Id say get a squier neck and call it a day!

Your eyes will be the best judge of that. Anyway, even if it is, it could still be a good bass. Those squier ii basses are nice, despite being plywood
