Fender sticker on LICENSED Fender neck . . .

I plan on buying a Warmoth neck. They're licensed by Fender.
You know what I'm putting on the headstock?

Warmoth...cuz that's who made it & they do great work.

"rabble rabble rabble" is a reference to several episodes of South Park. Or perhaps I should say it's an expression used in South Park in situations very similar (conceptually) to what we have going on in this thread.

I made this decal myself specifically for this bass, which is a hybrid of P bass parts and Jazz bass parts.
It represents no 'real' fender that I've ever seen so I made a Fender decal that could never exist. Look closely. It's totally unique, like my bass.
And like a few enlightened posters here have agreed, aesthetically it's 'right'. I'm not going to sell it, I hand built it to my own spec.

After reading this thread I'm thinking about getting an expensive custom shop fender and then sanding off the logo and putting a squier one on in its place.

One it may discourage would be thieves. Two I can totally screw with the minds of gear snobs.

Thieves usually don't know anything about what they're stealing. I recently had a bunch of basses and a guitar stolen. What did the thieves do? They took a cheap Epiphone Dot Studio guitar, but left my Eric Johnson Strat! There's about $1,000 difference in value there. Also, they took some cheaper basses, but left a 1962 Harmony H-22. Why? Because they're stupid!
Anyway, great post! It would be funny to put say a Squier logo on a custom shop Fender.

OK, that may be the exception. If you give $500 to Fender to buy a new neck with Fender on the headstock, you may have just turned your Squier into a Fender. Still have the other inferior hardware, but the Fender logo would be official.

That being said, bring on the haters!

If YOU are attaching a COUNTERFEIT decal to ANY headstock, what you're doing is entirely unethical. If you're ok with that, then do it. Just know that you are a dishonest person.

We see a lot of Chinese "Gibsons" and "fenders", relabeled Squiers and partscasters here locally on the CL. They often start out with no clarification of their origins, until sharp eyed locals cry foul. Then the ads change to more ambiguous statements of "unknown origin", "made entirely of fender parts", "I have been told it might be a fake" and/or claims of a lawsuit guitar.

Once the buyer of a partscaster takes possession of your FrankenStrat, they can and do claim anything they like.
Don't contribute to this problem.
Make your own decal in a similar style without any allusions to implied fender heritage...
