These/this 1x15 Ampeg PF115HE is modded with Eminence 3015 in it. (I've got 2 of em)
Handles a more power than it did with the stock speaker. And sounds great. Tho I've now added ports , so it's still a tight bottom end but not nearly as steep a roll off.

yeah, I'll bet it does at that. I really like my SB through the Faital loaded 2x15 that LDS built for me this summer, but it's really too much cab for many of my gigs.

I am currently looking at a late 70's era Fender 1x15 loaded with a JBL E140. It has the same width as the Studio Bass head and I'm sure with the efficiency and tone of the JBL, they will match up well.

yeah, I know it sounds kind of stupid (even to me) to care about the overhang/t-bone look

but I do. :D

good news is there are some cabs, new, old and custom built, that are big enough to accommodate this great amp.

heading up north later in the week and will probably snag the 70's era JBL E140 loaded Fender cab. Should be cool. Also have been eyeballing the new-ish Fender 115 neo, which is also the right width.

well, good thinking .. but in rodl's case with the Ampeg 115HE, it's a square cab, so it's the same dimensions whether its up, or on it's side.

I actually have done that with my CN212 - which is a great match with the Studio Bass amp BTW - but, the drivers were pretty far down near the ground, and I had a hard time hearing it clearly (at least as clearly as I like). There is also the issue of off axis dispersion when you go that way too, at least with the CN212, which is an excellent vertical driver design.

I have a question for you guys... What power tubes are in your st/sb? I feel like I have the wrong ones in... I have 4 sovtek 5881 tubes and two jj 6l6 tubes... It's obviously a mess so I'm thinking of just putting in 6 new tubes.

What do you guys have in your amps now?

Mine came with one triplet of original GE 6L6GC's and one triplet of RCA 6L6GC's in the power section. All in great shape! The market value of tubes are worth more than what I paid for the amp.

So, I have taken the old stock tubes out of it, and replaced them with 2 matched triplets of Ruby 6L6GC STRs, then had it biased for the new power tubes. Sounds great with the Ruby's. When I take it in to a recording situation, I switch out the Ruby's for the original tubes and get it rebiased for those.

Whatever you put in there, its key to bias the amp for the tubes to get the most out of both.

Well, guys, I'm thinking of selling mine, if I can get enough to get a Thunderfunk. Just fishing, but is there interest? The head has been separated, and the speaker needs reconed due to a tear made when I was trying a Meyer speaker in the cab and set the EV down on top of something. It works perfect, sounds great, but I want solid state! I have owned this one since 1996 or '97. It was in storage for nine years, and I got it out when I moved back to Virginia from Colorado. Pictures available if there is interest, and thanks for considering.

Do you guys run straight into this thing or do you have a preamp? I have a VT bass deluxe and I find I'm getting a better tone without it... I know its all subjective but I'm just curious what you guys are running...

Also I have the ST and I'm curious what the two inputs mean... I use input 1 but I'm curious what the second one does.

The two inputs are the same. No difference, it just has two inputs.

Just a fender design thing.
