super twin seem much more available. Same head but you would have to make a headcase but then you can use cabinet of your choice. Mine is awesome with an EV loaded MM115H

easy. top mounted. slides right out. headcase you can make or buy (mojo) and then sell the twin cabinet/ speakers to offset some of the headcase cost.
Guitar version also has a footswitch EQ which is good and a distortion which is maybe the worst i have ever heard. there is a threat on TB started bt JohnK about his super twin. let me know if you can't find it...

FWIW, the Studio Bass also has a foot-switchable EQ, just like the Super Twin, but the Studio Bass EQ section has (naturally) more bass oriented EQ points. The Studio Bass does not have the ST's widely acknowledged "terrible distortion" control.
After using the EQ section on the Studio Bass, I have started to wonder if the Q points of the EQ section could be modified some how, like changing some resistor values a bit. Anyone (like JohnK) know anything about this ?

after owning several of both the SB and ST amps ,IME, the eq points are so similar that it doesn't really matter which one you have. if you really wanted to turn the ST's points into a SB, you'd have to change two inductors and a few caps (but I don't think that it's worth it or necessary at all).
they both use the exact same inductor.
studio bass has:
80Hz- inductor part# 0111946 -1uf cap
190Hz- inductor part# 0111945 -.68uf cap
390Hz- inductor part# 0111945 - .22uf cap
1kHz- inductor part# 0111943 -.15uf cap
1.85Khz- inductor p# 0111941 - .82uf cap
Super twin has:
100Hz- inductor part# 0111946 -1uf cap (exact same as studio bass but called 80Hz!)
235Hz- inductor part# 0111945 -.47uf cap
485Hz- inductor part# 0111944 - .22uf cap
1.25kHz- inductor part# 0111943 -.082uf cap
2.3Khz- inductor part# 0111942 - .033uf cap
so you can see that they're close enough for rock'n'roll.

Since a couple of months I own a Studiobass 200 combo which I love!! I also have a Bassman 100 with a 4x12 cab in mint condition but I only use the Studiobass. It just sounds awesome and even better IMHO.
Last week I stumbled upon another Studiobass combo, also in mint condition. It's totally original with a cover, foot pedal and manual, scheme and warranty in a Fender envellope. I had to buy it because you don't see them very often and two of those beauties behind me on stage is the holy grail for me! I use a AVRI '57 P-bass as my main bass and the combination is sweeeet!
I'll post some pics in the next couple of days.

JohnK, What are the voltages on those caps? I'm picking up a well used ST tomorrow and plan on converting it as well as a new set of tubes. The caps that are in there are undoubtedly past their prime so I may as well switch it over.
Hello everyone. I recently got a good deal on one of these amps, and wanted to convert the bias circuit to a typical fixed adjustable one to use with a matched sextet of power tubes. Anyone have experience doing this? The amp already has the bias balance plus "output tube matching," what do those controls affect specifically? The two sets of three tubes in relation to one another? Could the output tube matching circuit be changed to an overall bias adjust or no? I have some experience doing this sort of mod from restoring and blackfacing my '68 Bassman head but the Studio Bass is more obscure and there is less info out there. Thanks for any help!
