FIFA World Cup 2014

Never call that our dutch neighbors :D

Brazil will be tough. The guys are playing vs. the whole country, not just the team. And brazil team will play for their live and Neyma.
If they make it to the final vs. Netherland then Netherlands will definetly want a revenge for 1974.

"We" (The Netherlands) will also want revenge for 1978... I guess 2010 however Is O.K. now :D

But if "our" national team manages to get into the final and lose again. That would be a unique wordcup loss-streak. Not sure if I should be proud though....

I don't like the Dutch team, mostly because Robben is such a dramatic flopper. The guy should be in movies, not on a soccer field. Yeah, they all flop, but that guy looks like he's taking a dramatic bullet ridden final fall in some cowboy movie every time anybody challenges him. There ought to be a Mexican maiden to hold his head while he breathes his last breath every time he goes down, just to make the whole Marty Robbins song inspired show complete.

I didn't realize that picking the South Americans for games played in South America would be such contrarian thinking

1-0 Brazil scores then parks the bus
2-1 Messi keeps it going

I think that both England and the US will win a Cup in the next 50 years and this year will be seen as the beginning of the climb. For the US, hiring Klinsman was the key move, we have some of the best minds in science and business, but not in football, so it was a good start to admit that and import the knowledge that we don't have. The US has been consistent in having excellent goalkeeping and we consistently get in the tournament and recently have been getting out of the group stage - what the US needs is a Messi or Ronaldo and maybe a little more depth on the squad and we would have a chance in a WC that didn't have one or two dominant teams. The US Messi isn't on the radar screen yet, maybe he isn't even alive, but there are enough kids playing and there are better structures in place to spot talent that when he does show up, we'll know. With England, the shift toward an attacking style and younger players will pay off soon and instead of being in the second 10 with the US, it will be back in the Top 10, and once you hit that Top 5-8, anything can happen in a tournament.

I agree and would add that I think he would score more goals if he tried to stay upright and take the shot rather than going down easily and taking a chance on getting the penalty call.

Imagine if some of the people who play in the NFL or NBA were soccer players. Richard Sherman, goalie...

The good thing is that they wouldn't flop. The bad thing is that the other teams probably wouldn't need to and the entire US team would be sent off by halftime.

There were at least two examples of exactly that against Costa Rica. One wasn't even by Robben, but it might as well have been. The funniest one, to me anyway, was when he took a spectacular, twisting dive into the penalty box, obviously trying to draw a penalty shot. The ref called it, in spite of the Costa Rican player motioning "flop" repeatedly, but the ball was placed outside the penalty box. No goal. If that clown had just run through the tackle he had a great shot on goal right in front of him. I would call him a bozo, but that insults clowns.

I don't like that guy at all. Is it obvious?

Points deduction for Darth and dangnewt for incorrectly formatting their scores.

The ghost of the Grandstand vidiprinter is most displeased.

Points Deductions? What is this - figure skating? Diving? Whatever happened to yellow cards? Did you forget yours like the Spanish ref in the Colombia-Brazil match? Or are you playing the role of the Bulgarian judge sabotaging the scores of freedom-loving North Americans?
