FIFA World Cup 2014

What are the views of you guys on the 3rd/4th place playoff, between the semis and the final? I've always thought it to be a pretty dumb thing to include. I don't think anybody wants to be in it and I don't think the beaten semi-finalists ever want to play in it or even win it. It's a bit of a non-event and I'd like to see it scrapped, personally. That's just my take.

TBOT World Cup Prediction Game...To The Victor The Spoils...

Guys, we are nearing the end with the upcoming semi-finals, four games left, thanks for everyone's participation and joining in the fun and the discussions -been very enjoyable!

However, there was I felt, one thing missing.

With any competition, there should of course always be a prize and I think our little game should be no exception.

Trophies are old hat, so I thought that in honour of our own particular game, we should go with something a bit more appropriate, something "fitting" and relevant.

So there can be only one possible choice of prize, gentlemen, to the heroic first TBOT Official Football Thread World Cup Winner, shall go the following,

Heroic Bawbags.

These pristine (honest they are not an old pair of mine!), hand-crafted in Scotland (with a donation given to Men's Cancer Charities) will be obtained in the appropriate size for the winner and delivered directly to them wherever they are....

In the event of a tie, I'll work something out, I ain't buying two pairs! (I am Scottish after all!)

1-2
0-1

Yes, I am predicting a Germans vs. Sea Germans final.

In event of a tie, I'd be willing to accept a 6-pack (or size of your choosing) of Irn Bru. I'll even paypal you the shipping costs. :)

Agreed, can we close on this aspect lads, it's not going anywhere...

New player? (To me at least)
Rodriguez of Colombia is the one who caught my eye.
Big defender for Chile - Gonzalez?
The young left back for the USA, Yedlin, made a great impression when he came on, didn't get long but he certainly impressed me with skill to back up his enthusiasm.

Speaking of Yedlin, Liverpool have contacted Seattle and have inquired about purchasing his contract: http://metro.co.uk/2014/07/04/liver...tle-sounders-defender-deandre-yedlin-4787470/

Call me cynical if you like, but the impartiality/fairness aspects of the imminent semifinal would worry me if I was German. I'm not one for conpsiracy theories in general, but there are some pretty huge interests involved with Brazil's future in the competition.

Remember the Ronaldo mystery on the day of the 1998 final?
