It's a bit weird, most of the teams I especially want to see do well are on one side of the tree, Mexico or USA in the final would be perfect though.

Chile need to get knocked out quickly, as Vidal need to be available for a medical at Carrington.

Not saying I'd be against a Mexico - Algeria final, just that I don't see it happening.

I'm neutral but I've really enjoyed watching Germany and the Netherlands play and I think it would be a great end to end, high goal match.

I don't see it happening either, but one can hope.

Remember that the official Talkbass term for the kind of match you describe is "end-to-end goal-a-rama ding dong". We voted on it. :thumbsup:

I like the way France have been playing especially the speed of their counter-attack.
Chile can beat Brazil really looking forward to this game

Be nice if Algeria can get stuck in against the Germans, pay back for the '82 fix.

Looking at the 2 x 8 team split one side of the draw looks tougher than the other.

And congratulations to CONCACAF, 3 teams in last 16 is an excellent result.

I think it's like the Olympics. Once its over, most bandwagon fans will forget about it. Non-bandwagon fans will be minding the same leagues, teams and players as before.
I don't like it as much as ice hockey so I don't follow it. I know how to play, the rules, positions, and so on. If a match is on one of the Hispanic stations, I'll watch. You don't have to understand Spanish to know what's going on. But just like MLS, the elite Latin American players go to Europe so you see a bit lower level of the game. And uh, what does FIFA stand for anyway?

Uruguay coach Tabarez quits his position on FIFA's technical comittee in response to Suarez ban saying he can't work with people whose, "Values are very different to those I have"
Now granted there is a certain amount of playing to the home gallery required here, but talking about scapegoating and making comments like this, I have to think;
1. Good stuff, that's another seriously wrong thinker out of a position to influence FIFA.
2. Deluded.
3. I wouldn't want to be playing against a team coached by someone who honestly thinks that's accurate.
4. See 2 above.
..but then as we all know, it wasn't Chewie's fault, the English media made him do it.

I saw that, what a clown.

I think it's about time FIFA grew a pair and started handing out penalties that actually made a difference to the players who committed the offence.

Values very different to those he has? In other words, he doesn't get on with people who don't think biting someone is ok. Good to know!

Who knows though? Maybe it's an ok thing? Again, using another rugby analogy, rugby players go further ;) :

Let me make a pitch for why the US can win the game, err, match, against Belgium.
Howard is a top-class keeper and capable of pitching a shutout and his hands are so reliable it is as if he had pitch on his mitties.
The US forwards pitch in and work on the defensive end.

Chris Kamara 'catches street thief' in Brazil

Chris Kamara described the suspect as "my prize catch"
Football pundit and former Leeds United star Chris Kamara has chased down a suspected thief at the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

Kamara, who also played for Sheffield United and managed Bradford City, caught the suspect, who is thought to have been arrested by police.

Middlesbrough-born Kamara, 56, tweeted: "Not lost me pace!!! I just caught this street robber. Done in now though."

He also tweeted pictures of the man, who failed to escape the scene.

Kammy 'told off'
Describing the suspect as "my prize catch", the Sky Sports pundit alsotweeted: "My good deed has backfired I have to go to the police station now to make a statement."

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said travellers should be ready to hand over valuables amid fears attackers could be armed or under the influence of drugs.

He added: "We are aware of the incident and we are providing consular assistance to Mr Kamara.

In response, the have-a-go-hero repentantly tweeted: "Police & British Consulate in Brazil have politely told me off, a lot of these guys are armed!"
