Finally got duped on a Talkbass transaction

I understand not flying to his house and beating his head in.

I do not understand your willingness to leave him in the shadows where the rest of us could possibly have to deal with him.

Get with admins and change your feedback for the rest of us please. Thank you.

I think by his description it's the last guy who left him positive feedback on his account. Not hard to figure out.

Talk to the admins and change your feedback rating, definitely. I get that it's hard because it's a trade, but I would at least attempt to get him to send back your stuff.

Trades are always a little sketchy, I won't do them unless I know the member from the board. I prefer to have the backup of PayPal transactions for stuff like this.

I get it too ... there is a big difference between an intentional scam and misinformation. I went through a return process on Fleabay with a seller who I believe really didn't understand what they were selling or why it wasn't what they thought it was. Not a scammer ... just misinformed. I can deal with honest mistakes ... but cudo's to OP for just walking away and leaving a warning sign for others! ... I'm not always able to just "turn the other check" ... in those situations the lose/lose scenario spirals.

Sorry you got taken on a bad deal...

However, most normal people don't just roll over and accept they've been scammed unless there's a little something more to the story than they're letting on based on my own experience in business dealings. To just show up with a tale of grief and woe without seeking a remedy makes me wonder more than just a little...especially when you start getting defensive and begin saying things like "owe you nothing" to the people who have given you the courtesy of listening to your account. If your intention was to suffer in silence, why did you bother to post in a public web forum the first place?

Suffice to say your "decision' is a little odd and may raise issues with some of us regarding your own credibility.

Also, in a self-policing community like TB, you most certainly do owe your fellow members something if you've gone so far as to semi-out somebody in public like you have here. Just sayin'

The problem is what if it isn't? That's the problem with "figuring out" an accusation like that . There's room for error, and the wrong person could very easily get flagged.

Hey so you're blaming yourself a lot for getting ripped off. But I respectfully disagree, it's not your fault someone was dishonest. We all have varying degrees of alertness in transactions and sometimes you do act more, or less, trusting, than usual. It's part of trading. You didn't screw yourself, someone did that you.

However, once you know you've been scammed, if you don't at least try to take some action, that passivity is a way in which, this time, you really are doing yourself in.

I don't know if this is a good time to give brutally honest advice like that, because I side with you. But dude... telling us about it does nothing. =)
