Finally got duped on a Talkbass transaction

@bass12 you are expecting somebody to all of the sudden become honest after spending some time being dishonest. I don't think you would be wrong to contact him but I don't think the OP should feel obligated to do so. There is a much higher chance that additional contact results in greater headache and more stress than actually resolving the issue satisfactorily for the OP.

Well, obviously different people deal with certain things differently. I would feel more stressed if I didn't try contacting the seller. And I'd feel like a wimp.

a part from the what happen with your trade, how did it get into such rough shape in two years time? looks like it got thrown out of a moving car? not to mention why change the knobs? and the screws in plate covering the strings are all rusted in a flood left in a damp basement??? If you ask me I don't think you are even looking at the same bass in the picture. I have basses that I've had since the 70's and 80's and none of them look like that second picture even after 30 and 40+ years

Dude, you lost a nice cirrus. Sorry about your bum deal. I had my eye on that Cirrus. And wouldn't outing this person get him banned? I do a lot of business in the TB Classifieds. Makes one think. Anyways, thanks for the heads up. And I hope you'd reconsider and at least get the Cirrus back. If nothing else to get it to a deserving home.

I understand you may not want to engage this guy again personally, but I think you are making a mistake by not alerting the mods and outing him. The same guy could screw any of us in our next trade, which would have been preventable if we knew who he was.

Yeah, you're right. You can figure out both if you look at the feedback. The OP here had the trade listing and you don't get to see pics and description as you would in a sale. The best one in the linked thread was easy to find since it was one bad review among a lot of positive feedback.

If I was OP I would at least ask to change the feedback to explain item was not as described. Seems much more productive to me.

I'm 62 and I've never done a trade for anything. I can't imagine the wild coincidence of someone else and me having the exact thing each wants as well as each wants to get rid of.

Regarding the deal, this is one reason I only use CL for anything of REAL value used.

Also, I never, EVER review a product until I've used it.

I got a fantastic set of LED headlights off amazon, except when I mounted them they turned my high beams into flood lights. I wrote up a deatailed 4 paragraph review with one star. They offered to let me keep the bulbs and give me a full refund if I took down my negative review, which I did.

A company STILL wants me to review their printer ink cartridges. I'll review them when I have to use them.

But I confess I've let my guard down a couple of times and got burned on one.
