lars k nordberg is amazing yes. he happends to be the live bassist for satyricon now, so you can put him in the bm-category as wel :D

saw him this eastern with the new project he mentions here, system:obscure. amazing, incredibly relaxed technique, altho the music was kind of boring.

My favorite Cannibal Corpse album has always been 'Tomb of the Mutiliated.' Other than that Bloodthirst is pretty good and their newest album Kill is cool as well. Actually there aren't any albums that I don't like, but I would start with Tomb of the Mutiliated.

the bleeding has got amazing bassplaying/sound.

i cant remember the name of the jarzombek-project, but i saw some vids of ron playing some of the riffs along with a drummachine, so i suppose it's in the works. i figure webster's been kinda busy recording and playing with cc for a while now

Progressive Death Metal : Martin Mendez (there is no substitute)

His work on their Prog Rock album owns as well.

They recently came to my hometown to play saw both shows and both were awesome.

Tech Prog Death Metal : Stephan from Necrophagist, he visited this forum a while back to answer some questions. His basslines are awesome. Melodic, groovey deathmetal goodness.

maybe its just me but it seems like as far as metal goes alot of guys get written off if they dont play finger style. i hang out with some serious death metal players that ive known since high school and we always get into arguments about whether bassists should play finger/pick. its no skin off my nose if a guy plays with a pick so i really dont care. this goes all the way back to the cliff burton vs. jason newsted argument. i definately wouldnt call my friends close minded, they play everything from death metal, jazz to classical- because they are all the hardest styles to play in terms of technicallity and they definately know their music. anyone else gotten into silly arguments of this sort?

One of my all time faaaaaavorite bassists. Not too much room for him to really establish a voice in Coroner– mostly just high-speed guitar doubling with some really nice fills here and there. What really impresses me is his accuracy while simultaneously singing, even on simpler-but-more-primal numbers like "Internal Conflicts" on Grin.

I also love his note-for-note doubling on the last part of the intro to "Die By My Hand" or the mind-boggling interlude to "Mistress of Deception."

Coroner is just beyond amazing.

Also, what about Roger Patterson, and Lars K. Norberg? Great players.
