Fire at Fender warehouse in Mexico

Is this going to be one of those stories that "grows in the telling"?

Future eBay item description: "This P-bass dates to '22, the year of the famed Ensenada factory fire. Because so many MIM bodies, necks and electronics were damaged, Fender sent truckloads of US parts down to Ensenada to be assembled. So while it is technically a MIM Precision, it is one of the rare US quality basses that came out of Ensenada for one year only. Blows away any normal MIM bass. Priced accordingly..."

i don't mean the shape of the neckplate. I mean - since when have mexican fenders got an all black neckplate with ensenada mexico on them? It looks nice. I see this one has a 2021 number so maybe it's new since 2021.

I'm sorry that they had a fire. No good can come from this.
Wonder what this will do to inventory and ultimately pricing.
I wouldn't worry about that. I'm sure insurance will cover any losses. Most corporations like this can recover from these types of incidents without it affecting the bottom line.

You get a roasted neck, and you get a roasted neck, and...

or...

Introducing....roasted bodies to go along with roasted necks...

or...

New to MIM models only, our special water and/or fire retardant finishes.

Mark my words, FMIC's marketing department is probably hard at work trying to figure out how to spin the fire-damaged instruments as a special edition Road Worn series. :woot:
