First bass at 30..

I think I started when I was 25. I'm 31 now. Been through at least 20 basses so far. It's like an addiction. But a fun one... to me... not the woman. I can almost play a song or two but have a lot of fun. I'm sure you will too.

Have you ever played any other instruments?

Only drums, I'm a innate drummer but my house is not that big now.

I'm not the only one, cool! lol, never is too late yess! :hyper:

Its never too late to start. A student of mine is in his 40s, possibly 50s and its his first musical learning experience. He's really interested and practices a lot...even more than my teenage students. Old guys can rock too ;)

Started at 17. I'm 19.

I'd have to say that the first whopping year was basically randomly plucking strings and letting it collect dust for a few weeks at a time.

Yeah, started with a Squier too. I don't care what people think, just because I don't have something that costs over $300 doesn't mean I won't be able to play Sinister Minister or something funky like that.

And one of my old girlfriend's had a father that got into playing the bass. Had to be in his late late 50's if not 60's.

The groove can be made by those of all ages.

My first try with instruments was with drums with which I failed with greatly, that was when I was in my teens. After listening to Soul & Rock I was hooked on Bass. Two songs of the many that I can remember were an inspiration to me. The Human Beinz Nobody But Me and The Beatles Rain. In my mid 20s I bought a used Fender P Bass and played in a garage band with some friends. Not great but we had a hell of a good time! I will be 54 next month (Now I dont feel so out of place) and own a Fender American made Jazz Bass as well as a Douglas Hofner type Beatles Bass. I would also like to say that there are some nice budget priced Basses out there as well as the higher priced models. My next Bass will be either a Squire Vintage P Bass, Fender Standard P Bass, or a Jay Turner P Bass copy as I have heard good things about all of these. I still practice every chance I get and still love it even at this ripe age. The enclosed pic is s shot I took with my Nikon at a Led Zeppelin concert in 75. Had to get the Bass player in there too of course.

Let's see...I first picked up the bass when I was 39.

And I got a pedal steel when I was 52.

Now I'm mumblety-eleventy years old, and I play bass full time in a band (wisht they'd let me play my Les Paul, but the 58-year-old kid who plays lead in the band does OK).

Rock on.
