Stolen!....Sorry for the derail... but you gave me a bitchin idea.
A "ceruse" finish on open grained wood, using glowey stuff as the filler.

Just a glowy update....Not the same product, but very similar idea, and using epoxy as the carrier so it will cure and won't shrink - see what @Fat Freddy is up to in his self-deprecating tour-de-force of just hopping on the LC wagon train and executing some awesome ideas, including awesome glowy ideas. I think @chinjazz also made some version of glow-epoxy tubes due to the Luminlay supply problems, but I might be delusional.
Curious why you didn't go with Luminlay dots? Pre-made, no risk of smearing glow-goo.That would be awesome! As long as the "middle" dries. My experience with paint is that it'll skin over and then the middle doesn't dry. But would totally be worth the experiment.![]()
The race is on!That is such a bitchin idea I might have to steal it...

Mostly just because I heard a ton of chatter about very long delayed delivery times since the beginning of COVID. I even heard chatter about some guys waiting literally 4 months and still not getting their order. The Glow-On I ordered from the Amazonians and it arrived in like 3 days.Curious why you didn't go with Luminlay dots? Pre-made, no risk of smearing glow-goo.

.....Media blasting FTWSo.....What's the best way to open up the grain again?..........

I was gonna say "12 gauge with birdshot" but your way is probably better.Media blasting FTW![]()

What! Internet chatter let you down? Never!Mostly just because I heard a ton of chatter about very long delayed delivery times since the beginning of COVID. Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong, I think the Luminlay stuff looks awesome and seems proven. It was probably simpler than what I'm doing too. I'd like to try it for a future build. But yeah, I got gun-shy listening to some folks on the book of faces talking about how they were waiting months and months. That chatter got pretty evil there for a bit, but that's just what the book of faces does. What! Internet chatter let you down? Never!

I had Luminlay dots on a bass I just got rid of. I was underwhelmed by the brightness of the glow. What you did looks significantly brighter. If you had done some masking it would have been an easy install too. Next time (and when I decide to do itYeah, I mean, don't get me wrong, I think the Luminlay stuff looks awesome and seems proven. Patience Grasshopper.....Well, the verdict is still out because the paint shrunk back really bad and now I have half filled holes. Plus I have some sanding to do to remove the surrounding areas where it got in the wood grain. So yeah, this may not be working well.![]()
