Mine was "Grand Funks', "Some Kind of Wonderful". I was terrified, in an oddly good way. Actual applause after the first song I ever played in front of people. I was absolutely hooked. Still am.

Not counting concert band pieces, “Funk 49” and “White Room” for a school sponsored battle of the bands. I was approached by another guy in band class who asked me, “you play bass guitar, right?” I said I did. He then explained how the guy he was teaching to play bass chickened out and he needed someone who could learn the parts within a week. We got together, rehearsed with a drummer, and played the show. That started a love affair with playing music and gigging out with others.
For any TB members with a keen eye from the Aerosmith thread, “Mama Kin” was technically the first song I learned for a show (this one), but we didn’t officially add that song to our repertoire until a few months later.

I honestly can’t remember what song started the set but I do know it was with my sister’s Irish traditional band so it’s safe to say it was a trad Irish chestnut like Lark, Rocky Road to Dublin or Whiskey Before Breakfast.

For bass guitar I played originals for years before mixing in any covers but the first cover was probably Summertime Blues.

First song on our first paid performance was Pink Cadillac, By Bruce Springsteen. In fact, due to our lacking repertoire, I think we played it four times over the course of the gig.
The Batman TV show theme, as a guitar duet at the sixth grade talent show. It was not a performance to remember.
First song I ever performed on stage in front of a crowd was Peephole by System of a Down. Put together a rag tag group of fellow hobbyist at the time and learned the song. Only practiced it a couple times and went up and did it (not like its a super complicated song). It was a lot of fun, had some folks come out from work to see it (we were all work friends and acquaintances including all the guys in the "band"). We were all nervous as hell haha had a few beers before we went up. None of us had much, if any, exp playing on a stage let alone in front of a rowdy bar crowd. Great memory though. We were all very happy and excited afterward. Great exp overall.

High school talent show. Pseudo medley of Van Halen: Best of Both Worlds into Outta Love. It was glorious. We didn’t win.
