"Fish On" purpleheart 5 string fretless... would appreciate your feedback...

Can't say the fish theme is my thing but you did a really nice job. Sound good too.
Cool. Couple questions, what fish is that (sturgeon?)? What materials are the inlay (looks like wood/marquetry but it's hard to tell on my phone)? Really nice work btw.
yes, that's a sturgeon. "fish on" being a nod to primus. the inlay is ebony and maple. body is purpleheart and maple. thank you for the kind remarks!!

IMO…really nice and tasteful Polynesian influence. Is there some legitimacy to this or is just my interpretation?
well... overtly: no... but subliminally: perhaps? specifically, I am of course a fan of ct basses, les claypool/primus... and this bass is an amalgamation of those things and just "what I thought would look nice". I know that in polynesian art they do a lot of red/black/white stuff so... that kind of fits. and the fish... well I looked at a lot of those styles of fish drawings and actually my second choice was going to be that style... but the detail in the fish pic I saw was a bit much... so I went with what was essentially just a silhouette of a sturgeon. anywho, thank you for the kind comments!
Yeah, the fish is there but that’s not really what stood out to me. The lines of the body remind me of the Hawaiian fish hook design and also, some of my tattoo art that I got when I lived there.

There are a lot of CT inspired builds out there, but you've done a better job than most in capturing the spirit of Carl's work, while still maintaining a sense of your own individuality. I particularly like the belly contour you carved into the back. I also like the headstock design, which compliments the body lines without under or overstating, and directs the strings in a straight line over the nut. I own a pair of CTs, and I would be happy to rock your Fish On bass!
