Flatwounds?

Let me reiterate a point I raised earlier: They may not sell as well because they last so much longer. I don't suppose it's a 50/50 split between flatwound vs. roundwound adherents, but I wouldn't be surprised if a quarter of the bass playing population use flatwounds on a regular basis. If 25% of us were, the shops would still only see 10% or less of their sales in flats because they get changed so less often.

I change a set of rounds in a couple of months if that bass is seeing active duty. I keep flats on a given bass for years and years.

No way 25% of EB players use flats on a regular basis.

I switched to Chromes from 1/2rounds after all the love shown for them here on TB. I have them on both of my P's as well as both of my Jazzes and very happy I did! I love the smooth feel and the tone after they have been played in really fits in with the way I play(fingerstyle). I just wipe them down when I'm done and they keep on keepin' on....

Maybe not for all EB players, but the last poll I recall showed that about that %-age of TB'ers who responded use flats regularly. Are we a statistically significant sample (or are we just whacked for flats)?

We might be statistically significant but we aren't representative in any way.

In addition results are heavily skewed by the sample being solely of those who respond voluntarily to the poll, from a larger sample of those who read the string forum in the first place, etc etc. The margin for error is massive.
