Flea, John and Omar gettin down.

My 2 favorite guitarists and one of my favorite bassists. Fun. FUnny how alot of fleas ideas sound similiar though, anyone else hear the 'this is the place' esque transition

i have to agree/disagree with you on Omar's playing.
Yes he is a bit off, but his playing make me think of Robert Fripp's playing: strange scales,...
and the playing is great but does'nt really fit in the groove generated by the 2 others.

you guys do know omar is a converted bassist right? he and cedric have a really cool dub reggae band where omar plays bass and cedric plays drums called de facto , its pretty good acutally, omar only a little while ago pick up guitar, he'd been a bassist his whole life, he writes most of tmv's basslines , especially on de loused, and juan alderete got some input on frances

oh and another thing about omar, since you guys have been talking about that solo he does around the 10 min mark, i mean it may be weird, but did any of you guys hear that same melody he did?

Your name fits nicely with your attitude...

Omar played bass for 2 or so years before he started playing guitar... and he started playing guitar at 12. On DITC I'm sure he had more input, but that album screams Flea (he recorded the album). And again, Omar composed FTM, but the basslines on it or most defintely written by Alderte, if you listen to RacerX, you can here his playing influences from there in Mars Volta.

What melody? You mean the part flea was playing? Or the part John was playing? Or the part Omar was playing? Because I happened to hear all three, and can tell you that they added up to a pile of **** during Omar's 'solo', if you can call a bunch of sloppy mistakes a solo...
