Flea's current distortion pedal

I saw them this saturday at lolla as well. I think his harsh tone on the distortion might have more to do with the bass (modulus) than the pedal. It works alright but hes sounded better. My favorite all time flea sounds are the ones on stadium arcadium.

Yes I agree. It seems like not many people like his tone from stadium

In my experience pro players almost never use their live rigs for recording. The demands of a live situation are different than in a recording situation. I am in no way insinuating that I'm a pro, but in the studio I ran through a Tech 21 Sansamp RBI into an API preamp. In a live situation I can get a very similar sound out of a Tech 21 BDDI into an Ampeg SVT4 Pro with an 8X10 cab, but if I tried running that in the studio I'd probably have a host of issues with noise and whatnot that I didn't have to worry about with the studio gear. That being said we used our guitar heads for the recording, and IMHO I think the EP turned out awesome.

I'm a huge fan of my B:Assmaster, but I'll be the first to say that it's not for every taste. However, neither is anything else. There are some fuzzes that are positively revered on this board that I've tried and thought were okay, but not really my thing...and I've adored fuzzes that others have loathed.

That's just how it is sometimes. ;)

Its more a more vintage vibe. You can get a good feel for it in tracks like turn it againa and death of a martian... i'd be surprised if that was an active modern bass on those tracks... i say jazz bass.

Yeah it was a 1961 jazz I think, but I love that tone from stadium it just sounds awesome
